This wouldn't be a terrible opening night lineup. I mean, relative to last year.

Teravainen - Bedard - Bertuzzi
Hall - Kurashev - Reichel
Foligno - Dickenson - Mikhehev
Donato - Anthanasiou - Slaggert
Smith

Martinez-Jones
Vlasic-Brodie
Kaiser-Murphy

Mrazek
Brossoit
I doubt we'll have any reliable secondary scoring tbh, not that I'm disappointed with that.

Just maximize Bedard's development and otherwise please god finish in the bottom 5. I honest thought it was a guarantee that we walked away from the 2024 draft with a blue chip forward prospect. We need that guy ASAP, especially considering development time. Unless it's Hagens/McKenna he probably wont be ready to contribute at a high level until 2028-29 ish

Vlasic first pair, o/w looks reasonably correct to start off with.

I get him wanting out of Minnesota, that part is easy to understand...

But it seems odd he'd want to come to Chicago while they're still at the beginning of a rebuild, but obviously I'd love to have him here.

2026 could very well be when they’re ready to compete for the playoffs. That’s still two years away. Two very good draft picks likely to be made, some prospects likely stepping up.

It makes a lot of sense.

Even if he had Kaprizov himself saying that I wouldn't really care because so much can happen from now and then, maybe get me hyped if he is actually about to be a free agent and not years from now.

Any idea the last time a player of Kaprizov's caliber reached free agency in his 20s? I believe Hossa was 30 and I'm struggling to remember anyone else...

EDIT: Maybe Panarin or Tavares if you want to argue his value at the time

If Kaprizov is really intent on leaving, he's gonna get traded to a team that he's willing to extend with, and it's not gonna be the Hawks.

Probably true but I wouldn't count out the Hawks on a trade. He's currently under a $9M cap hit and the Hawks will have the space next year plus a bunch of young players/picks to offer the Wild. But would the Wild trade him within the division even if the Hawks give the best offer?

He’ll be a ufa at the end of this contract. The Wild have no leverage, especially if he wants to go to a certain divisional rival.

And it’d be silly to trade him at the deadline if they are in a playoff position next year.

Yeah seems like recently big names in their prime like that always seem to get walked to UFA either way since the team isn’t willing to fully give in on hope that they sign (Stamkos in 2016, Tavares, Panarin)

I could be forgetting someone but I doubt they trade Kaprisov unless he demands a trade for whatever reason and just use him as an own rental and just cross their fingers he changes his mind

I could see him signing here. We can pay him as much as anybody. Really depends on how much progression our system shows in the next 2 years
