In Downtown Vancouver, 18-year-old Rylind MacKinnon was doing what any normal first year student would do on move-in day: moving the large pile of boxes to her room, meeting her roommates, and getting settled into her new home away from home.
That all had to be quickly put on hold when she walked back down to her mom’s car and realized her bike had been ripped off the rack on the back.
“I figured, okay, let's just go down the street and see if anyone has it,” said MacKinnon. “Sure enough, I spotted it and I just went up to the guy and took it back saying, this is my bike, I'm gonna have to take this back from you and I rode off.” ...

NEW YORK AND TORONTO (November 26, 2024) – The Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) has commenced a waiver period in accordance with the league’s training camp timeline prior to final roster compliance. Teams are permitted to contact and offer a contract to any of the 16 eligible players prior to 3:00 p.m. ET on Nov. 27 when the waiver period closes. Teams must submit their final rosters to the league by 5:00 p.m. ET on Nov. 27.

The PWHL will no longer broadcast games in Canada on YouTube, a "trade off" for the league's growth. But the platform will still show games in the USA and Europe.

The PWHL continues to grow. This season that includes broadcasting deals, particularly in Canada. After streaming all games for free last year on YouTube, and producing their own content that was then distributed to outlets like TSN and CBC, this year will see more exclusivity.
That includes the evolution of broadcasting deals, which are now exclusive in Canada with CBC, TSN, and Amazon Prime. That means PWHL games will not be available on YouTube this season in Canada.
"The nature of the relationship with those parties has changed this year, and that, yes we are receiving media rights," said the PWHL's senior vice president of business operations Amy Scheer. ...

If It Were Only About Skill, Laura Kluge Would Be In The PWHL
If it were based solely on her on-ice performance, Laura Kluge would be suiting up with the PWHL's Toronto Sceptres this season. But the German forward has military obligations she must return to first.

On Wednesday afternoon, Toronto Sceptres head coach Troy Ryan announced in his media availability that Laura Kluge was waived yesterday due to commitments with the German military.
“She was a great player, a pleasant surprise for us and I think she surprised herself as well,” said Ryan.
Kluge is returning to Germany to sort out the contract she is believed to have signed after not being selected in the PWHL draft this past June. ...
