Love Pentiction, and all the Okanagan valley. I had some of my best young travelling experiences at 17 and 19 by going to Oliver, Osoyoos, Peachland, Summerland, Penticton, got to pick cherries, sleep in a tent, chill with hippies and punks with dogs, hitchike, and most of all, do tons of drugs and drink 2Ls Growers cider. 5$ each.

Same here. Would recommend the experience to everyone. I wouldn't mind retiring there.

Not sure what the Habs saw in Merrill...he has been underwhelming

Jeez I’m sure he’s had better games but man he’s insane.

I can’t remember who said it on here but they had a great quote. Paraphrased it was: “Demidov doesn’t turn on a dime, he has a turning radius of zero”.

It’s just wild. He’s gonna be an enormous piece.
Generational talent perhaps

Big dude that needs to work on skating.

They're hoping for a Brian Boyle type (and Merrill has been training with him).

We'll see how he progresses over the next 5 years.

I didn't know enough about him to say that he is underwhelming. Only thing I know is that Billy Ryan vouched for him at the scout meetings and said he was training with Brian Boyle and that Ryan sees a Boyle-type player in him. It'll be a while before we really see if he's anything for the Habs. He's going to Harvard next year. And he'll most likely need 3 years there before we see if he's someone we see something in.

How long did it take for McCarron to be an NHLer? If Merrill becomes one, it’ll probably take at least as long as him.

Merill running the Newhook stat line. I was wondering if he would leave the BCHL with the recent changes.

He wasn't drafted by any team in the CHL. The players who left their BCHL teams to go to the CHL were players that have been drafted in the CHL. Which is why Vecvanags was able to leave Brooks to join Acadie-Bathurst. He was taken by them in last year's Import Draft.

Now I could be wrong and some players may have signed in the CHL as "free agents," but every player I've seen make the jump were players drafted in the CHL.

A MAJOR oversight by the CHL to miss out on Merrill...

Can anyone tell me more about Habs prospect Ben Merill. 6'4'' right handed center who is said to have a great shot. Besides that he is ranked 191st in BCHL points under 20. I would like to hear from people who have seen him play. What do you see in him?

He was drafted as a 4th line centre prospect, he wants to be the next Brian Boyle. He's coming from prep so it's definitely a jump for him. The shot is good and his defensive play is strong. His foot speed is an issue at this time so he's a long term project where if everything hits, we will have a nice 4C with size who can chip in the occasional goal from the bottom line.
