2024-25 James Norris Memorial Trophy finalists: Quinn Hughes, Cale Makar, Zach Werenski

Makar will probably win this. Werenski is a very close second for me, and ask me 10 times about whether I think Makar or Werenski should win it, and I might answer with Werenski a few of those 10 times. All three very worthy finalists.

It’ll be Makar this year. He was absolutely unbelievable this season.

Shout out to Werenski though being a finalist cause he was so friggin good too

If Makar was just a little bit less good this year, the trophy would be Werenskis

Werenski had a great year and moved up the ranks of the league’s top D. Makar will win the vote though.
I wonder who were 4 -10? Morrissy? Fox? Sanderson? Chychrun?

A weird one for me where Werenski deserves more Hart votes than Norris votes IMO. I know, tough to mentally wrap your head around, but yup.

No I get that, I said the same about Quick in 2012--JQ for Hart, Lundqvist for Norris narrowly--but it's def hard to explain haha.

Should be close for Werenski though, I hope. Glad to see him get his roses here in great company.

So you say the award is the no defense award
Yet none of them outscored Hughes?

Brilliant logic
Im saying based on the combination of overall defense and offensive contributions, others are more worthy. Hutson, Hughes, and Bouchard are specifically O only. Hybrid "defensemen". They may be elite defenders, but their deployment makes it so we never see it.
