Crap. I’m sure he’ll be in demand. I hope they get him back

At the same time, there's plenty of good proven journeyman AHL goalies. I'm not sure he has the track record for a team to offer him a crack at the NHL backup spot just yet.

It depends a lot of what happens with Primeau and whether they sign Fowler and Miller and year end.

He could be out due to a number game if they keep Primeau (or get a proven NHL backup) and Dobes, Fowler and Miller are in the minors.

True. I meant in demand in the ahl btw. I have to believe they’re done with Primeau. Miller may be screwed because of his long injury. They may not hang onto him.

I assume Miller would be sent to the ECHL anyway. Even if not signed to an ELC, I'd expect him to get an AHL/ECHL feal to keep him around instead of a guy like Jones.

But if you have a Dobes/Fowler duo in the AHL and a NHL backup (Primeau or someone else), there is not much opportunity for Hughes for whose clock is ticking rapidly.

There is a scenario where they don't retain Primeau/sign a backup and just let Dobes and Hughes duke it out for the backup position with the loser going down to split the net with Fowler. Depends how much Hughes (Kent) is willing to gamble.

They could also wait another year to sign Fowler, but that would be purely a logistical decision since Fowler has nothing left to prove in the NCAA.

I really hope Hughes re signs. Not sure how long they have him for. I’d guess Dobes is up next year. Primeau will be gone as quick as possible I’m assuming. I can’t imagine that they’re happy with him
I think it depends heavily on Primeau. If he kind somehow find his groove back, then he can stay in the NHL and we'll have a Fowler - Dobes tandem next year. But if not, Dobes will go to NHL and I think it makes sense to have Hughes as a stop gap. That way you have Fowler start in AHL and Miller starter in ECHL.

Honestly, I think it'd be Monty and Dobes in the NHL next year. Primeau will be gone, there's nothing there and I'm sure they'll want to let Fowler run with the net rather than split with Dobes and Fowler, considering it'd be Dobes 3rd year in the AHL next year and if he's had a dominant end of year run last year, then another fully dominant year this year, a 3rd AHL season doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

The goal would be to make sure the 3rd goal is an experienced veteran goalie who can come up and be a NHL back-up with us if Dobes isn't ready, but if he is, can split starts with Fowler in his first full AHL season.

Agreed. Whenever Primeau plays next, he’d better stand on his head cuz if not, bye bye. I’m sure Hughes is already looking to get rid of him.

Is there ever any good news? FFS!

Winning 10 of 12 has made their environment pleasant I am sure!

One signing not talked about very much is Vincent Arseneau who is great to have to keep other teams in check.

Another solid under the radar signing was Zack Hayes. I was impressed with him in his only pre-season game with the Habs and he's helped the D in Laval.

Sedgwick/Hughes did a great job filling out this roster this year.

The only disappointing signings have been Hunter Jones and Vincent Sevigny, but they're so far down the depth chart it doesn't really matter.

Cue the losing streak. Key injuries and “hey let’s call up Lavals leading scorer so he can play the 4th line and lose”. Hughes is doing exactly what he said he wasn’t going to do.
Can we at least have 1 winning team for a season?
