Hi all,

Since the 2023-24 season is over, I figured it might be worth making a new thread for the upcoming season? I don't know if a mod wants to sticky this (I think the only forum mod is Kingsboy11 but don't know if a global mod wanted to do it).

The World Junior Summer Showcase is underway. This series of exhibition matches basically gives teams a chance to tryout for the WJC team in December. Team USA is split into White and Blue. They play against Finland, Sweden, Canada.

Kings' seventh-round pick James Reeder scored the game winner in the final minute against Finland. He has 1 goal in two games.

Their fourth-round pick Hampton Slukynsky has appeared in two games. He allowed 3 goals in 23 shots (3.75 GAA) and a save percentage of .870.

I believe goalies were rotated both games he played in.

Next Season should be a great one and Blake and Luc et. all get extensions and the same suspects are triggered and go on about it all damn summer.

Some key takeaways from the interview (but also an update):
- Kirsanov playing in the KHL this year. He has 1 assist in 3 games. He reportedly had a very good experience in LA even though he couldn't play. Glen Murray raved about him. They're hoping he'll come to North America after the KHL season finishes.
- After Hoven said it's likely Ziemmer will play in the WHL, Emerson basically said "we'll see how good his camp goes." The injury just came at a bad time, although he was fantastic in previous camps.
- Dvorak has a lot of possibilities for where he could play. Emerson wouldn't really commit on where he thinks he should play.
- Mentioned that Wright and Conmy were among the most impressive at development camp.
- He was asked about how analytics get used in development. He didn't give specifics about how, but he told a story about how they applied analytics with Kempe back when he was in the AHL - they wanted him to get x number of disruptions in the offensive zone per game/weekend.

Sounds like Brandt Clarke is our best bet for a rookie camp guy to make the team. Over the next six weeks, our boy just needs to beat out Kyle Burroughs on the ice and dodge an STD in the South Bay.

Another goal and assist for Otto Salin. He has 6 points in 7 Liiga games as a defenseman.

For context, the highest scoring player in all of Liiga last year had 64 points in 60 games. The highest scoring defenseman had 49 in 53. I know it's a small sample for "pace", but he's pacing for 51 points in 60 games if he keeps this pace up.

Here are the highlights for yesterday's OT loss of the Spitfires. Greentree had 1 G, 2 A.

Looked good, particularly offensively.

Woolley and Mania also played eachother, but neither got a point as Flint beat London 7-4.

Carter George acted as backup and did not play.

Is Windsor expected to be any better this year?
Presumably they should improve. They don't have any top-tier graduates. Greentree is more experienced. Davis (who attended Kings dev camp) and Nesbitt are no longer rookies. They were the second-worst team in the league, so hopefully there's some semblance of improvement.

Defense + Goaltending is a question. Froggett bailed out the team a couple times last night, but this is still a team who allowed 5.3 goals against per game last year. That was the worst in the entire CHL (which is composed of 60 teams - 22 from WHL, 20 from OHL, and 18 from QMJHL).

So, it's basically a nowhere to go but up situation.

The question is if Greentree is still on Windsor at the end of the season, or if we'll see some wonky trade where he returns 3 players and 5 picks for a team wanting to go for it.

Thanks, that's what I figured. It's nice that he's on a team where he plays a ton but it'd also be nice if he can get into some meaningful games at some point.

Liam Greentree had 1 G in a 12-2 win
Jared Woolley had 1 G, 1 A in a 5-2 win
Matthew Mania was scoreless in the 5-2 loss against Woolley and the Knights
Carter George had 15 saves on 17 shots in a 2-1 loss
And as mentioned, Otto Salin had an assist.

Good info and analysis.
When you posted Greentree had (only) 1 G , 1 pt in a 12-2 blowout, I looked into it.
Found that their #1 pick, was #1 overall, Ethan Belchetz is a 6’4” 230 lb 16 yr old LW, that’s been killing it.

Had 4 goals, 2 assists that game and has 4 goals, 4 assists, 8 pts in 3 games. Greentree was with the Kings for Windsor’s first game. Liam has 2 G 2 A 4 pts in his 2 games.

My takeaway is that Liam will probably be splitting LW minutes with this phenom kid. Sounds like a potential top 5 pick for 2026 draft. Sounds like Liam may be pushed some here and that’s okay. Cole Davis has 4 pts in first 3 games. I suspect he’ll get drafted this coming draft as a 19 year old. I’m sure the Kings will be watching him. He looked very good at rookie camp. I actually made it out to TSC last Sunday and took in practices and the scrimmage.

I get being 6’4” at 16 is possible…but 6’4” 231 lbs??? Man. If he is 6’7” 260 at 18…that may not be a good thing. lol
