Honestly. If he really is an issue he probably should. We don't NEED the assets if he doesn't have value currently. I'd love to swap him for a veteran forward though.
Maybe I’m misunderstanding your post but I thin this organization needs all the assets it can get.

This is not meant as a shot a Fowler, but since Trouba got here, we have too many D. If Fowler is going to go (and it appears all parties agree he needs to go) it needs to be asap. Just removing from from the current roster is a positive at this point. Pat needs to find the best offer and just pull the trigger.
i agree, but i'd be shocked if they traded him before he reached 1k games. they're probably going to let him have that moment as a duck and then ship him out soon after

It depends on how the league sees him. If he has value sure, get a useful player or pick. We shouldn't be holding out for best value possible at this point if he is actually an issue.

IF McTavish is actually on the block, who are some reasonable targets?

I don't know what his value is around the league but it is certainly not sky high right now due to injury and sketchy play. As for him being an "issue" I don't know where that is coming from. Yes, he may want to be traded but I can't imagine he is a problem in the room. I'm not sure I see the rush. I'm totally fine waiting for the TDL and if that means sending down a couple of the kids until after the TDL then I'm fine with that too.

I don't disagree. Just acknowledging that we don't know what's going on in the room. His play has been down and it's public that he's open to move. Not sure it's wise to be picky about the value of the return.

Any trade that happens needs to not just be draft picks or prospects as the main piece. Get proven players back who haven’t been tainted by this teams inability to develop players.
The age range and contract status of the "proven" players needs to be major considerations. Teams will line up to give you their 28 year-old who is one year from UFA players for McTavish. But I don't see him returning a 23-25 year-old core player. Right now I'd say his value is marginally higher than what Jiricek returned...and that is just not enough.

Man, I would really hate to give up on Mac even though things havent been going great.

If you do this, then I think Zegras almost has to be one of your centers going forward, end the wing experiments completely.

I dont know who the targets should be, but Id be looking for established talents, not projects or promising prospects. We are not doing good in the development department and I wouldnt want to just bring in a guy to ruin.

If he is not a locker room problem then I think it is distinctly unwise to trade him when his value is at its lowest. What is gained by that?

If mac is moved. Zegras 1000% becomes our permanent #2 céntrele behind leo

We seem to be playing better without him for 1. Small sample but seems to be true. 2nd, how much extra value are we getting out if holding onto him? I'm not convinced there is a perfect deal out there. :/

Very small sample size...too small IMO.

I'm not saying he shouldn't be moved but I would hope that Verbeek is less reactionary than you are being. Panic selling is not going to right this ship.

Who care what you get for Fowler as long as it’s not even worse contract, he’s gotta go now and I seriously doubt his value increases from here
I don’t understand this point of view.

We aren’t making the playoffs without Fowler. Missing an extra 5-10 games each won’t kill the development of the youngsters. Getting stuck with a returning Cap dump will block either the same or different youngsters. Returning anything but a high 1st will be relevant right about 2030.

There’s nothing involving Fowler being there or not being there that’s going to make this collection of forwards score enough to beat the type of schedule we have remaining.

I’m not saying he’s playing great (although he was as good Monday as he was bad yesterday), but I don’t see anything that needs to be addressed “immediately” on this team outside of the coaching staff.
