Buium is an offense first LHD taken in the middle of the 1st rd, GIll is a big, project RHD taken late in the 2nd rd, since they traded up, it suggests to me they expected him to be off the board and jumped when he was still available.

There should be a number of smaller, skilled LHDs in the 2025 draft, I expect the Flyers to draft at least one if not more.

The two decisions were separate. Buium v Luchanko/Helenius and trading up for Gill.
That's pretty obvious when you look at them.

Gill is a long-term project. Given our depth at RHD, he had to be BPA in their eyes.

Here's a list of some players they traded up for in the past:

Bjarnason
Wisdom
Desnoyers
Brink
Ratcliffe

I'm pretty sure they traded up to draft TK as well
Yes in a historic draft. Also 10 drafts ago at this point.

The focus was more on Day 2 trade ups, when the tiers smooth out, which have a horrendous track record league wide as some sort of evidence that a prospect is better than we are giving credit.

BPA doesn't take position into account. That's the whole point of BPA.
Only when there's a clear "winner." Once you get past the first few players, there tends to be "tiers" of players of similar value, so within a tier, you can go both BPA and take into account position.

Given the amount of variance involved in evaluating prospects, it's probably arbitrary to rank them numerically, as there's probably little or no difference between say player #17 and #22 on your board. So grouping them by tiers of players who you think have similar value makes more sense.
