I hope he makes it but not as a 4th liner. He’s an offensive dynamo, it would be ridiculous to add this player and then play him in a grinder’s role.

The reason Sennecke wasn't part of the WJC squad initially was because all the top-6 slots were taken and the coaches didn't want to play him as a 4th liner. That reasoning was shared when Sennecke (and Ignila) were snubs.

TBF, when someone shared a Scouching scouting video of Sennecke this year, Sennecke's off the puck and defensive game didn't possess the same vigor like his offense. It's probable that when Sennecke was informed of the reasons why he wasn't invited that he took steps to improve in all those criticisms in all of his ensuing games where he went off the charts. Thank goodness Sennecke rose to the occasion than to shrivel up.

It kinda reminds me of when Eakins benched Z in the 2nd period for lack of effort playing defense and then in the third Z scores a goal that was initiated with him playing defense. Z scowled at Eakins after scoring it, but Eakins told the press after the game that he got the correct response from Z.

Let's hope Sennecke can keep this high level play all around as his new norm. Z didn't think his defense was that bad until two other coaches kept calling him out on it with Cronin (year 1) and the team USA WC coach, who did bench Z at the WC.

Was the scouching video a single game review or multiple? Because they have not been very high on Sennecke at all, so it wouldn’t surprise me if they found a rough defensive game of his to display as an “I told you so.” Granted I don’t watch any full games of his to know how common of a theme that is, so hopefully he makes the WJC roster so we can all get a look.

EliteProspects draft report praised his forechecking, especially when the games started to matter. FWIW

it was a full, single game review. Scouching did posit that Sennecke didn't look bad, but didn't pop off either and that Sennecke might still be growing into his body.

I do know that Sennecke's scoring rate at a two-week interval has been dropping after resurging at the start of the season.

Oct 28th: 2.00 ppg
Nov 10th: 1.80 ppg
Nov 25th: 1.17 ppg
--- News broke he wasn't on the WJC team ---
Dec 11th: 2.80 ppg

Doesn't sound like much is going on in the game this morning, which doesn't bode well for sennecke (I would think). We will see later today.

Hopefully he has a chip on his shoulder.

Beckett Sennecke, LW (Anaheim Ducks): Sennecke was excellent in the first game and was quieter in the second. He always had a tough road ahead, given he was a late addition – that, and there was plenty of competition to fill one of the final scoring roles. This was the most surprising cut in my opinion because I thought he played quite well. Plus, he’s a hot hand.

- Massé is still slowly getting up to speed after returning from injury. No idea when he'll feel comfortable again to start scoring in bunches.
- Terrance has cool down after burning through the atmosphere for a few weeks.

- Kukkonen's offense has spark. Let's see he can become like Johnny Storm and "Flame on!" (Chris Evans actually revived his old Marvel character.)

🔥 En Fuego Club 🔥
  • C Galimov
  • LD Uljanskis
  • G Clara

- Galimov is back to scoring after a 0.50 ppg rate for the previous 2-weeks.
- Uljanskis... oh noes, Anaheim has a high scoring defenseman prospect. Where have we heard that before?!
- Clara posted a 92.86% Sv pct on Nov 28th and a 96.77% Sv Pct on Dec 5th. Eye popping and great bounce back.
- Pettersson has been bouncing back and forth between the SHL and HA leagues. Might be best to leave him in HA for the season.
- Solberg has regained the trust of his coaches after beating down on a player already knocked onto the ice.
Almost a month ago, Solberg was a -3. On Dec 11, he's a +2. He also scored his first goal in the SHL in his last game.

🔥 En Fuego 🔥
  • RW/LW Sidorov

  • RW Caulfield

- Finally, Gaucher and Caulfield are a pair again. And whoever is the scoring winger on that line will score. It happened last year with Tracey and Pastujov. And now it's happening again with Sidorov. Before being paired up with Gaucher-Caulfield, Sidorov has 0.40 ppg rate (2 assists) in the previous Prsopect Update.

- Clara has slowly improved his GAA in his last four games. While he does have a 3-1-0 record, a lot has to do with the offense coming back to life in his last two games with 5 goals each game.

- Dionicio has been healthy scratched for six games, according to Defend the Nest. I have him missing six games, but no reasoning for it.
Nov 10 Prospect Update: 5 games, 1g + 2a = 3 pts, and +1 rating
Nov 25 Prospect Update: 4 games, 1g + 2a = 3 pts, and -3 rating
Gotta assume it is his defensive play that caused him to be healthy scratched. He hasn't played since.

San Diego needs more offense. They are getting RW Colangelo back for their next game. Colangelo is still the 2nd best scorer on the team despite being with the Ducks for eight games, or 20 days. Let's see if that helps.
