I mean you could argue this isn’t all that relevant to the Ducks currently (although I’d say it is at least somewhat) but this story as it stands sounds truthful.
And i know it happened years ago, but an adult acting that way towards a child is insane. That’s such a huge red flag and I doubt he’s changed all that much. Team cant dump that dude fast enough

Ducks aren't relevant enough for multiple sources to make up stories about Cronin. There's obviously something there
Yeah. This is where I am. Why would anyone make up stories about the Ducks of all teams? Not many care enough about the Ducks to make up different stories IMO. There sure is a lot of smoke out there to Cronin being a giant hardass.

Funny how when a story supports one's biases (the SC stuff), they take it as gospel but when it runs counter to them (our beat writers saying Cronin has a good relationship with the players) it's "just guys wanting to maintain their media access". Lot of people choosing to believe what supports their narrative

Aren’t you doing the same thing? Just on the opposite side of most people.

I don’t really have a strong opinion either way RE Cronin but I haven’t heard anything concrete to suggest that the current roster has any issue with him so yeah I often speak in opposition to those who push that narrative. This story being true or not true means absolutely nothing to me because it’s not indicative of who Cronin is in 2024 nor does it have anything to do with any players currently on the team. I am not in favor of firing him solely because I don’t think the current roster is anywhere close to a finished product and I think instituting a ton of turnover during that time does nothing but create a chaotic environment. But I also wouldn’t be upset if they fired him tomorrow.

We don't have beat writers. We have guys who will show up for games for the free meal when they don't have anything better to do. Not a single writer travels with the team or is truly dedicate to the daily workings of the team. Derek Lee might be the closest thing we have but even he is limited by finances.

This team has a coach that is over his head, no impact player and GM that has done nothing meaningful since his big fire sale.
1/4 of a season in, no improvements over previous one. PV needs plan Z because plans from A to Y didn't pan out. And plan Z already looks more like rigor mortis rather than initium vitae.
I know, it takes time, but c'mon, throw us a bone.
It will be a long decade...

I'm done with Pat as well. I know this was like 20 years ago or smth, but how many red flags do you have to ignore to hire and then keep this guy. Pat is part of the problem in my eyes.

I'm not really sure what to make out of Pat yet. I'm not convinced by him but he NEEDS to make this work somehow or otherwise this gets really dark. The problems this organization has won't end with firing of Cronin however I'm afraid.

I look at the kings and can't help but be jealous. They have a system that works. They have won 6 in a row and their young guys coming from the ahl buy in and are chipping in. Something is rotten within our organization and it start at the ahl level

I never have and never will be jealous of the Kings. They have gotten unusually lucky with the longevity of their top players and a willingness to play the most boring type of hockey that exists. They are a team propped up by lameness. I, for one, cannot wait for it to end and I believe they are a year or two away from perpetual being stuck in the middle of the league.

I don't know how valid it is regarding Verbeek not wanting to include Getzlaf with a significant role in the organization. If it is... it sounds like he is more worried about competition for his own job. I really hope that we don't lose Getz to another organization... can we imagine if he joined the Kings?

Anyone hear Keith Yandle's story about Cronin on Spittin' Chiclets yesterday? It's at the 1:41:00 mark.

I’m last person to want to hear anything involved with Ryan freaking Whitney but I’m on the side that wants at least Cronin gone if the season plays out mostly like this. Both if PV then refuses to do it

You must be joking.

People here hate our system for being boring - the Kings play the most mindless, boring brand of hockey in the league.

People here are mad about our prospects - Byfield is making $6mil to put up 11 points in almost 30 games.

I agree that the Ducks' AHL program sucks, but that isn't where the rottenness starts.

I think the problem starts with the organizational system than the AHL level. Verbeek has been treating the NHL as his developmental level. A lot of our youths have bypassed the AHL: McTavish, Minty, Carlsson, Cutter, and LaCombe. And the few that were in the AHL, they haven't been there long enough for development in Zell and Colangelo. Sometimes talents shines through shit in the AHL. Helleson has been in the AHL most of his ELC, but he's noted that there is more structure in the NHL level in both instances he was called up. He was called up under Eakins and Cronin, both times looking very good due to a simplified role for Helleson.

As for the Kings' youth, the AHL, and NHL, it varies. Byfield and Laferriere didn't stay in the AHL long enough to translate to the NHL level. D Clarke didn't have space on the NHL roster last year, but does this year. The other youths are being sheltered in the bottom-6. The Kings' AHL club does deserve credit for Turcotte, Helenius, and Spence.

One aspect that is significantly different between the Ducks and Kings is that the Kings' roster have far better veteran talents to shelter and support their youths. Their vets are leading the way for their youths. In Anaheim, it's our youths that have to bootstrap the team forward. That's ground zero for the Ducks problems.

No comparison… it’s like being envious of the Lakers or Dodgers when you are an Angel or Clippers fan.
