The last 8 games we are 20th in shots for, 31st in shots against, 30th in shot differential, 28th in SAT%, 29th in USAT%. 2nd in 5v5 shooting %, and 10th in 5v5 SV %. They are 5-2-1.

That’s not sustainable. That’s a hot streak relying on goalie play and an unsustainable shooting %.
We also were unlucky with shooting percentage to start the year which has shown was also unsustainable. Stats are all fine and good, we look like a much better hockey team overall the last 8 games instead of the first 13. Plenty of room for improvement, but we HAVE been improving and perhaps it hasn’t quite shown up with the advanced stats, but something as simple as 5’ passes in the neutral zone that used to lead to a turnover are now leading to speed into opponents zone. Not always, but not never like before.

My hope is this young team continues to make improvements, it’s the key to our longterm success. Also this team was always only going to be as good as their goaltending, and we have at least a top 5 tandem in the league and it’s not close.

What’s the high danger chances the opposition has, is there a stats for sustained zone pressure ?

Thanks sir !

Friedman talked about the Ducks, specifically Cronin, today on his podcast. Nothing necessarily new. According to his sources, Verbeek was considering replacing him after last season but decided to try again with a new assistant coach and Cronin a new perspective. The comment Friedman kept repeating was unhappiness but the players due to not winning and someone pushing them hard.

He said Burke used to praise Selanne because he's so positive. Carlyle and Burke are angry people and Selanne would keep everyone's spirits up. Gave Cronin lots of rope because losing is not fun so how can he make he room fun. Believes that everyone is trying to find a balance.

Also brought up how things that motivate AHL players may not work for players with NHL contracts. Essentially, players will grind more to make the NHL than grind to stay in the NHL after they feel they have arrived and been paid.

He also said some of the veteran players might also be expecting more from the younger players as well. That it’s not always all the players V the coach

Sorry to derail, but was it on the 32 thoughts podcast? I was half listening to it and only got halfway before I got to work, but I want to make sure I listen to that.
