He's getting a crucial sticktoitivness transfusion. They were hoping an entire Summer of a specialized and highly sophisticated training regimen of trying to break down a brick wall by smashing into it head first over and over again without any discernable effect on the wall would help things but sadly it did not take.

At the end of the day, I'm simply bored with watching a team ice entire lines of guys who, at best, are 10 point PK specialists on a mediocre PK. Who cares if Puustinen isn't as good as some hope? He's at least a move away from the stale, boring, ineffectual style of hockey which has been Sullivan's go to since 2018, for reasons.

I don't mind us being bad in order to tank, I don't care if we're not sniffing the playoffs, but man, just play a different style of game for once. If it's not going to make any difference, I'd prefer to watch something more entertaining than 82 games of "guys that remind Mike Sullivan of himself when he was younger and a few over the hill superstars".

Sullivan's obsession with being able to PK over having skill is so laughable considering it's not even that difficult to PK. There's a reason that any 4th line scrub can do it effectively.

At the end of a 82 game season, I'd be willing to bet that a team constructed of skilled players will end up with more points than a team who focuses first on who can PK and battle teams to 0-0 draws.

Ugh. The season hasn't even started yet and I'm already pissed off at how this coach does things. f*** off, Sullivan. And f*** off, FSG, for thinking this guy is a keeper.

Even then, it makes no sense to ice someone who is only good at the PK but brings nothing at 5on5. PKing isn't difficult to do. You don't need a "specialist" who drags you down at 5on5. Play the best 5on5 roster you have, then worry about which 4 guys you'll PK out of those guys.

Couple things --
1. Points/60 is not a predictive stat. It does not hold true that a player will produce at a similar rate with increased usage. He might. Or he might trail off.

It's more predictive than training camp success is, I'll tell you that.
If a rookie has scoring success relative to minutes, you afford him the chance to consolidate that success in their sophomore season. You find out if he can back it up.
You don't put him in a position to fail in camp just so you have an excuse to cut him, because you prefer worthless PK'er plugs.

Puustinen should be playing in this game today with all the regulars, not cast off with the fodder for inevitable cuts. They need to confirm what they have.
It's bad coaching. Plain and simple.
