He was fine. Predictably nothing juicy, trade-wise. Only names dropped were Jones and Ferraro as speculation.Jesse is the one they have on, preparing myself for some bad takes on what the Avs actually need before the deadline
Well I stand corrected. He brought up an upgrade at 2C and an upgrade to top 4 D. And brought up how the Avs would love to bring in a more consistent partner for Girard to move down Manson.Jesse is the one they have on, preparing myself for some bad takes on what the Avs actually need before the deadline
Pretty much everything we have all talked about here.Well I stand corrected. He brought up an upgrade at 2C and an upgrade to top 4 D. And brought up how the Avs would love to bring in a more consistent partner for Girard to move down Manson.
Said that the Avs often go after the guys that aren't in the cycle (so doesn't think it will necessarily be Jones). Brought up Ferraro as the guy he could see the Avs going after (this was pure opinion based on his part)

According to Flyers beat reporter Kevin Kurz of The Athletic, the Flyers “haven’t gotten many calls on” Ristolainen and while things can change with one phone call, he is not expected to be moved, as of now.
To be fair, it was reported after the trade by multiple people that they apparently were really close last summmer... Then Drai got his contract.Close to an extension!!!
When was the last time the Avs actually won a bidding war?If Dallas doesn't have any interest in Risto, and there is a bidding war between Dallas and the Avs for Jones, it likely won't end well for The Avs.
The only saving grace might be that the Avs can probably take Jones at a higher cap hit than Dallas can, and thus Chicago wouldn't have to retain as much.
I think Seth Jones would be a great add, but to have Chicago retain on that deal it's going to cost a premium. Not sure the Avs have the assets to be playing this game. Unless we get some magic from the front office, I really can't see this happening. If the rumored trade from Dallas is Mavrik Bourque and a 1st, the Avs are nowhere close to being able to offer that.If Dallas doesn't have any interest in Risto, and there is a bidding war between Dallas and the Avs for Jones, it likely won't end well for The Avs.

Kesselring?Utah has a bunch of pieces I wouldn't mind.
C Barrett Hayton - LHS - 6'1" 201 lbs. - 24 y/o - $2.65m AAV x 2 years - 59GP-15G-17A-32P
W Lawson Crouse - LHS - 6'4" 216 lbs. - 27 y/o - $4.3m AAV x 3 years - 58GP-9G-4A-13P

C/W Kevin Stenlund - RHS - 6'3" 215 lbs. - 28 y/o - $2m AAV x 2 years - 59GP-7G-6A-13P
D Sean Durzi - RHS - 6'1" 198 lbs. - 25 y/o - $6m AAV x 4 years - 7GP-0G-3A-3P
D John Marino - RHS - 6'1" 202 lbs. - 27 y/o - $4.4m AAV x 3 years - 17GP-0G-6A-6P
D Olli Maata - LHS - 6'2" 209 lbs. - 30 y/o - $3m AAV x 1 year - 49GP-2G-11A-13P
This beyond obvious guys they wouldn't want to move, and I'm not even sure if the guys above would all be available.
Potential for a one-stop shopping spree here.
Hayton is the obvious prize, but all 3 of Crouse/Bjugstad/Stenlund are quality 3rd line forwards who bring size, speed, jam. On D, Durzi would cost a fair bit but would fit our style really well. Excellent at puck retrieval, breakout and stretch passes, kickstarting offense from the back. Marino is super underrated. Maata would fit in nice at 3LD and has no salary commitment beyond this year.

Probably Lehkonen for Barron + 2nd. There wasn't much noise around Lehkonen but there were surely other teams interested. When was the last time the Avs actually won a bidding war?
Lots in here, but one quote in particular caught my attention in regards to Zegras:
"You need to put him on a team with a star player who will outwork him. That's the only way you fix him," one NHL executive said.
I haven't entertained the idea of him being the 2C solution, but if that's true then there wouldn't be a better player in the league to "fix" him than Nathan MacKinnon.

Exactly
Anaheim is such a train wreck. So much talent on that roster that they're wasting. They'll try and ruin Carlsson too.He lists McTavish as potentially available here which is a bit surprising

The size is always queener on the other side of the fence.Yup, not sure what this infatuation with meh players on other teams is. I guess classic case of grass always greener on the other side.
I mean, i get it, Mittelstadt, Colton, Wood...all play like shit, dont provide the secondary scoring we need. But replacing them with guys that dont do that on their teams either, wont probably fix the issue, right? Or do they just hope they will randomly blossom into snipers and playmakers on Avs?

I don't really get the appeal of McTavish to be honest. He lists McTavish as potentially available here which is a bit surprising
