In all seriousness, the Canucks contract structure is actually surprisingly good where in the worst case scenario they can trade away their high end players and do a retool.

Define high end players. Trading Pettersson, Hughes or Demko would turn this into a rebuild. Trading Miller or Boeser would make sense if we're going to retool, but wouldn't make sense from the perspective that they're the ones that are actually playing well.

I would love to be in a scenario where we somehow acquire a lottery pick while having a cinderella playoff run at the same tine.
Cue up the 'tank thread'!....Both the Oilers and Av's have started the season 0-3. And the Canucks are 0-0-2. Might be a bit early.

Even if the Canucks miss the playoffs, we'll definitely be out of the top 10.
Thank god we did not trade for a big fish at last year's deadline, we would be out our 1st round pick this season + it's looking like this year may start going downhill real fast.
Don't think it's 2023 level, 2023 has a chance of going down as one of the best draft of all time, but this year is much stronger than 2024 and I'd say it's an above average year. This year's lottery is almost certainly going to be stacked on centers with a couple defensemen sprinkled in.
