Prospect Info: 2024-2025 Rangers Prospects Thread (Prospect Stats and Info in Post #1; Updated 4.16.25)

is boilard a real prospect? always seemed kinda korczak-y
I didn't watch him at all last year. I don't enjoy watching the Q and it's even worse when it's for one guy who's playing second line duty.

The fact that his production fell off this year isn't a great sign, although there could be other factors that impacted it.

My gut is that he's like a C- prospect that ends up as AHL depth.

yeah. not a real prospect.

what's good with Lamber? let's get some skilled youth down to Hartford to supplement the beef.

is Brisson signed for next year?

Brisson is an RFA, though I think there's about a 100% chance he's qualified or otherwise re-signed.

Lamb hasn't been signed yet and he may end up playing a senior season at Minnesota.

Agree about Brisson although he hasn't shown much in his short stint in Hartford.

You would think that if Lamb and Fortescue were going to be signed it would have happened by now so they could get their feet wet in Hartford.

Emery said he will attend the New York Rangers' summer development camp. But other than that, he plans to spend most of his summer in Grand Forks.

"I'm going to be here for most of it," Emery said. "I'm going to be here in June. I'm just trying to work hard. I'm going to go to the development camp. From there, I'll just come back and my main focus is helping this team win a national championship."
Dane Jackson was named North Dakota head coach after being a long-time assistant coach.

per Mollie, Fortescue leaning towards staying

article is paywalled but that point is in the headline, and text of the link, and the teaser text above the paywalled paragraphs

BC has lost the following players so far:

Perreault
Leonard
Powell (#1 dman)
Fowler (#1 goalie)

Drafted players who may still leave:

Jellvik (Jr) - Boston 5th round
Gasseau (Jr) - Boston 7th round
Minnetian (So) - Dallas 4th round
Hreschuk (Sr) - Carolina 3rd round, now with Columbus

Jellvik was hurt a good portion of the year. Both he and Boston might want him to go back.

Gasseau has been pretty consistent all 3 years, and he has the size to play in the NHL. I'll be somewhat surprised if he doesn't leave. Boston could use more young players going into a reset.

Minnetian has had a good year, but will probably opt to play one more year before turning pro.

Hreschuk has to be signed by Aug 15th. I don't know if Columbus plans to sign him or if he intends to go back for a 5th year (assuming he is eligible).

Undrafted players who might leave:

Hagens

We'll have to see which team drafts him and what their plan is for him. Power is the only high pick I can recall who was drafted out of the NCAA and then went back the following year.

Drafted players who will likely stay:

Stiga (Fr) - Nashville 2nd round
Letourneau (Fr) - Boston 1st round
Skahan (Fr) - Utah 2nd round
Fortescue (So) - Rangers 3rd round

Stiga had a good year overall, but he needs to be more consistent. He'll get a ton of opportunities to be the guy next year.

Letourneau hardly produced playing mostly 4th line minutes. There's no chance he's leaving, unless it's to go to the CHL.

Skahan needs at least one more year in the NCAA. He'll get more minutes next year with others leaving.

Fortescue is on this list because I think if he was going to sign, it would have happened already. He was at the game the other night to watch Perreault and didn't leave with a contract.

BC's recruiting class looks to be pretty weak.

Maybe some of these guys have been/will get drafted, but I don't recognize any of the names.

BC will probably be pretty bad next year. Scoring will be a problem. Korec should be solid in net, and the defense might be okay with Fortescue, Skahan and Minnetian anchoring it. But I don't know where the goals will come from outside of Stiga and possibly Letourneau, unless all of Hagens, Gasseau and Jellvik stick around.

Maybe that will be good for Fortescue. Give him a taste of what playing for the Rangers will be like

BC is going to be baaaaad next year. I went into the season thinking Fortescue should stay another year, but between the improvement in his game and the state of next year's team, I'm not loving that he's staying.

i was fine with him coming out,
but staying means lots of ice time, and a leadership role, in quality competitive Hockey East
That can only contribute to development

I don't think they will be that bad. Probably middle of the road team.

We'll see. Will depend on whether some of these on the fence guys leave or not. But it's a tough conference, and I just don't see where their scoring is going to come from.

The Bruins drafted Kostadinski. I think he was a 6th rounder. He's a big physical guy. Radivojevic has played for the last two Slovakia WJC teams. A smallish puck moving offensive minded defenseman. He's quite possibly Powell's replacement. He's possibly a 2nd rounder this year--more likely a 3rd I would think. Pitka I think was the last cut from this year's Slovakian WJC team. Cornforth has a pretty good chance in getting picked say in the 5th, 6th, 7th.

Aspinall's season is over. He tied for the team lead with 3 points (2 goals) in 5 games.

Boilard leads his team with 6 points in 5 games (next highest is 4 points). His team is up 3 games to 2, with games 6 and 7 tomorrow and Tuesday, respectively.

On Saturday, Rico Gredig opened the scoring for HC Davos with an unassisted goal and helped his team beat the ZSC Lions, the defending champions, 3-1. Best of 7 series is now tied 2-2.

It has been a rather difficult season for Gredig after a concussion and moving from Wing to Center. I started to worry about him but he may be about to bounce back with a strong post season. He's trusted on the PK and Saturday's goal was already his 3rd point in 8 playoff games while averaging just 09:44 (01:15 on the PK) per game. His 4th line has so far been a force and very effective for HC Davos during playoffs.

Ty Henricks going to the NCAA championship game.
He had 1 shot on goal in 7:31 of ice time last night.

For the year, he has 12 points (7 goals) in 40 games, averaging 9:10 TOI/G. That's not bad for a freshman with limited ice time, though he's a year older than the typical freshman. He turns 20 in June.

Among their top 8 scoring forwards, 1 is a graduate student and 2 are seniors. 3 are sophomores and 2 are freshman. The graduate student will be gone, and potentially 1 or both of the seniors, but it doesn't look like there will be an easy path for Henricks to move up next year. And that's not even counting their recruiting class. He'll have to take a significant step forward if he wants more ice time.

Maybe he decides to transfer to a school where he'll have a better chance to play more. Either way, I'm not hoping for a whole lot from him. If he can develop into a 4th line forward over the next several years, that's a win for a 6th round pick.

His first year numbers are also comparable to some of the first year numbers of WMU's upperclassmen and they tend to be 23/24 year olds now. Some of them aren't going to be back so if he does stay there he should get more opportunities next year.

With Henricks I'm just happy that he was able to play every night for one of the best teams in the country. Someone like Rasmus Larsson, he was even older, also coming out of the USHL, and he bounced around, in and out on a terrible team. Sometimes as a freshman it's good to just be able to play, even if it's just 4th line or 3rd pair. And his production wasn't terrible. He's a big, tough, banging power forward. I'm pretty pleased with his year.

This is a great experience for him too and that can be very beneficial to his development. I would suspect he's going to at least two more years but his numbers hopefully bump up a bit next year. He's another big guy---kind of the same size profile as Chmelar.

Agreed. He's a big boy. WMU lists him at 6'5" 195, but last season in the USHL Muskegon listed him at 6'5" 210. It's hard to discern 15 pounds when a guy is in uniform but in any event he's clearly a big, strong guy. Two more years in the NCAA and he'll only get stronger. He wasn't a scorer in the USHL and while he has some skills, that's not going to be his thing. But he does profile as a guy who could become a tough customer on the fourth line who can also contribute from time to time. Drury seems to like guys like him.

If you can churn out NHL quality bottom 6'ers and bottom pair D with your late rounders you can move some later but also you won't have to go into the free agent market to make long term deals with guys like Barclay Goodrow. Not to say anything bad about Barclay---I think he was a good Ranger but you can save a lot of money if you're developing your own and that's money that could be used for players at the top of your lineup. Rempe, Edstrom, Berard are those fill out your roster with cheaper contracts kinds of players. Mancini was another one. In Hartford--Roobroeck, Chmelar, Sykora and Laba and maybe Dorrington. Fortescue and Emery. Maybe one of them will reach into our top 4 one day. All these guys have the potential for that. Henricks could fit into that category of potential bottom 6 NHL player a couple years down the road. This year heads him in that direction.

most guys, who don't profile as stars when entering college, should stay at least 3 seasons

Fortescue was a mild possible exception,
given his core role on 2 top 5 NCAA teams and 2 WJC champs, and he's still returning for year 3

They used to do this. Remember with the Dom Moore Colton Orr (was young when claimed), Blair Betts (young acquisition) Oscar Lindberg, I miss those days, Jesper Fast etc.
