Speculation: 2024-2025 General Lightning Discussion IV: lowly Blots don't have cap to sign an Howard lel

I'm not sure if I've ever seen another player whose attitude is a major part of his skillset.

The only attribute that really stands out about Kucherov is his mental drive.

I wonder how he is away from the game. Lol.
Probably a regular guy who loves stuff like video games, crime shows or soccer, romantic dinners with his wife, plays with his kids. But probably does some very intense "me time" training either a little bit every day or devotes entire weeks to it ala Michael Jordan intensity. But without the severe gambling problem Michael had that he and everyone refuses to admit to and passes off as a love of competition

Even sending Atkinson down isn't enough. Howard's elc is likely 925-975k. Even accounting for Atkinson's space, they'd have 908k. The team is 17-5-2 the last 24 games, highest or 2nd highest scoring in the league, and Howard isn't even a better prospect than Geekie, who actually earned his games. There is no reason to mess with what is working in the top 9, especially when battling for the division, to give Howard meaningful minutes. Now, if Tampa gets eliminated or the games don't matter, and the cap works, sure, let Howard play 6 or 7 minutes on the 4th line the last game or two. Otherwise, he can battle Geekie, Duke, Finley.etc for 1-2 spots next season.

The max ELC salary is determined by draft year. 2022 is $925k.

No perceived slight lol. I find it funny that people on here think Howard, a college player with 0 pro experience, should be getting games at this key point in the season when he has done nothing to deserve it. For an organization that has constantly been about those who have earned and deserved their spot in the lineup, I don't see Howatd as anything special enough to get a pass. If the team was struggling offensively ir.not in the.midst of a division title race that will likely have a significant impact on their playoff odds, I'd have 0 problem throwing a guy with no familiarity and very little practice time into game action. Since none of that is the case, and they don't have the space anyway atm, it's not.

Okay, but they are still short then. Let him play the season finale against the Rangers if it's the only way he'll sign his elc. Even if that last game still matters, Cooper can give him a handful of shifts and he'll have his nhl ice time this season, and the cap would work.

i believe he has to play 10 games, no? playoffs count though, and we're basically guaranteed 4, so if they put him in on 4/7 vs the rangers he can burn his year.

The 9 game limit for burning the ELC only effects deals signed when the player is 18 or 19. Ike's deal isn't going to be a slide candidate.
ah well,
