Yeah after the whole Steve Downie for Max Talbot trade where you hear stuff coming from other teams like "we didn't even know he was available" and the Brad Stuart debacle, where they're trading a 2nd for a washed-up Brad Stuart and then re-signing him to a 3 year deal before he even plays a game with the Avs, can you really blame him? Feels like Roy didn't even ask anyone on the team - pro scouting staff or otherwise and just did stuff he wanted to do.

So I hope he takes over for Lou, he'll run that team into the ground.
Wasn't the Brad Stuart signing attributed to Sakic?

Ryan Wilson was great. A real wildcard on the ice.

His career was so weird, when healthy for a period he would build up a lot of momentum, his defense looked good, would get involved offensively, and his timing on his hits was spectacular. Unfortunately, every time he would start looking really good he would get hurt and then the process would start all over.

Of course not. No one hated Colin Wilson.

I'm talking about Ryan Wilson in the Roy era.
I remember people thinking he was dead.

As far as I can remember, most people liked Ryan Wilson but hated that he was just always injured.

Mental illness is scary. Robin....

edit: I didn't read the entirety of this thread
edit:2 I'm not going to ask you guys to read this thread of tweets from the man, it's a lot. But I don't know what to make of it.

If you read to the end, I think he is accusing the Knights of cap manipulation. I am not joking. Read the final paragraph.

What's unclear to me is whether everything above is genuine (Lehrer has been very public about his mental illness) or whether it's a parody of sorts and suggests that the Knights forced him not to report/play because they wanted the cap space.

It was certainly up for debate at the time... I remember lots of heated debates.

When you really step back and think about it - and think of the personalities of both Roy & Sakic - who would you think is the guy that would make rash decisions with an "I know best" type of attitude?

Sakic let it happen, so he wasn't without blame but I think that time just ended up proving that Roy was the guy making the moves early on - with Sakic deferring to his 'better judgement'. When it became really apparent that the majority of those 'decisions' just weren't working, that's when Sakic recruited C-Mac from Columbus and brought him in as his assistant GM. The results from that point on - speak for themselves.

VGK and cap shenanigans? Name a more iconic duo!

Regardless of what Sakic and Roy said, I don't believe Sakic had much input into personnel until 16-17 when he started to take control away and get rid of Roy's style of players.

Roy was sold on being coach and gm.

Colin Wilson? Yes he disappeared for a long time and they didn't tell us what was happening.

Players in the room absolutely loved the guy for some reason. JMFJ style.

He wasn't hated on this board...only person who "hated" him was TV when we traded for him because we sent a 4th round pick the other way and he was "stealing a roster spot" from some AHLers she liked.

Man those were pretty sad days.

Heard yesterday that the room turned against the GM. You don't see that shit often.

Players really don't appreciate what Drudy did to Trouba (and possibly Kreider) and Laviolette is stuck between a rock and a hard place.
I can understand that. Trouba had that contract so he could stay in New York and not have to move. With Drury basically forcing him out like that, why should anyone else feel comfortable playing for the organization?

Frankly, blessing in disguise for the Rangers then. I can understand if they are upset for like a day, because of course. But this is a business in the end.

If the players really want to stop playing for their fans because someone was mistreated, those players are f***ing cancer.
