Would you risk trading that for a much lesser player, a mid-late 1st round pick (likely bust or 4th liner) and a decent-ish player???

There’s a reason other fanbases asked for Slafkovsky/Suzuki+ for Montreal to go up just 1 spot when it’s a Big 5 prize. And we’re willing to trade down for magic beans? f*** off!

We weren't talking "value", we were talking "BPA", you said trading down would be the best way to get BPA. Sure you could get "more value", or maybe more quantity, but you don't get a better BPA by trading down. Geez dude.

BPA is a subjective construct. You decide who is the BPA and this may be different then the one another has. So... if you think you can take that BPA at a lower rank.... you trade down and get additional assets in the process = value for pick.

I have never said my opinion is more than an opinion and the reason why someone might give me more credit than another poster might be because I give my honest opinion and sometimes I've been right on things, I've also been really wrong on other things.. but in the end, I actually watch the prospects and I'm kind enough to share my list every year.

There's a core group of draft junkies on these boards who have been here a long time and we have fun discussing, debating and putting our lists against one another. We are just having fun, if anyone takes something I've said as my opinion as gospel and feels burned, that's on them.

No. Because we're talking about the BPA. It doesn't matter if that player is ranked 5th or 8th. If you think the 8th ranked player is the BPA available, you don't trade down and risk that player being selected 6th or 7th if you only want BPA. You only do this to add VALUE. Montreal would trade down to add value/assets, not to select the BPA.
