Renaud Lavoie said on radio that he would pick Michkov and that the Habs should not, not draft him because of politics. And that if you pick him, you can still trade him in the next 3 years if you dont like what you see.

He also said, from his point of view Montreal had Michkov on their not-drafting list, but they were impressed by the meeting with him, before finalising their list yesterday night. So they might be more willing to draft him now.

All surprising coming from Renaud.

AS if you could go from ND to pick at 5 solely based on an interview with a translator....BS.

I'd be happy with any of the consensus top 5 who fall to the Habs n I think that'll play out.
2nd choice is fall back 1 or 2 spots (if Michkov gone) and a the player they really like will still be there and ya get an extra 1st or equivalent asset.

Can't see Michkov falling to 5 ( so.eone trades up or just takes him) but if he does that would be where I go. If it doesn't work out, so be it. Be aggressive.

I've said it before, but my tone comes from the over-the-top takes about how it's Michkov or nothing. Bringing up any other player is met with so much negativity. Leonard sucks. Reinbacher sucks. Smith sucks. It's Michkov or bust, but we don't even know if he'll be available. You can't even criticize the guy without getting backlash from every angle. He's not the perfect player. His personal circumstances are not ideal given the situation in Russia. But any mention of this is met with so much hostility because people have become obsessed with this guy. At a certain point I just started saying shit to clown on people because we can't even talk about anything else anyway. I realize that probably pissed some people off.

That being said I appreciate your message. I don't have an issue with you and I can appreciate being excited about getting a high end offensive player. There are a lot of exciting players in this draft and we'll be a in a position to draft a really good one. Whether it's Michkov or someone else. I just really don't want this place to become negative as hell if we do end up with someone else. We're still getting someone very good and as much as we all love hockey and prospects, the organization are ultimately are paid professionals who have access to information that we don't.

Carlsson 100%, Michkov will need some major supporting cast to unlock his full potential.

Sometimes you need to go with what is compatible with your city.

Same thing with the Subban vs Weber situation, Subban was the best fit for montreal, he elevated the team.

Yeah I doubt you'll have to worry about anyone exploding since no one here overreacts to anything EVER.
