Let's say the Panthers pick is at 17.

Wood and Honzek are there and you gotta take one.

Or someone else there with size. Yeah, I get the a player who is smaller, but has immense skill should be taken over someone with less kill, but immense size.

Does who the Habs drafted with their pick change your choice? If so, put who the Habs select and why it would change your decision.

Not that the Habs should draft for need, but they don't have someone with skill and size in the prospect pool.

Right now my list goes:

Dvorsky
Smith
Benson

I’m assuming both Dvorsky and Smith shine at the U18s. If both end up sucking I’ll move Benson to the top of that list. All three are very close for me and consider that a “tier”.

Wood for sure, unless Cristall or Reinbacher falls.
what do you guys think about Gabe Perreault for the Panthers pick (#18) ?
Not for me. Theres gonna be better players there. Wood, Morin, Cristall, Dvorsky, Lardis, Leonard, Reinbacher, Barlow, Heidt, Danielson, Yager are all more interesting.

It’s gotta be Wood for me, regardless of who they take with their first pick.

He and Cristall are the biggest home run swings in the draft. If either of them are there at our second pick, I close my eyes and let er rip.

And cue, everyone starts seeing what MrB1P has been seeing since december.

i domt agree that Seider is a better skater? I see both as equals. Seider does have better puck handles though, Reinbachers only "weakness".

Id add Reinbacher at the top of this list but I agree. Love all three of those guys. 5-7-10 for me.

Haven't you seen him look absolutely awesome though ? God when he's on he's just the perfect hockey player. I really can't remember a guy that had swings as big as him.
Oh I know, it's just that I always have the bad, disinterested part of him in the back of my brain. I'm happy for him if he finally turn the switch on, as I said.

Since #8 is worst case scenario I’ll post my top 8.

1 - Bedard - No explanation needed.

2 - Fantilli - I love Michkov and he has a higher ceiling but Fantilli plays a more NHL game.

3 - Michkov - You can’t pass up on his talent. Even if he takes three years to come over it is not like the Habs would be competing for the Cup in a that timeframe.

4 - Carlsson - Their is a top four in the draft and he is the easiest player to place.

5 - Benson - He will do everything for the team and will be a fan favourite in no time. Plays a better all round game than Smith.

6 - Smith - Like Carlsson at #4 he is easy for me to place at #6. I feel like there is a top tier of four players and then another tier of Benson and Smith. People question Smith’s skating but I feel like with higher level of training he could improve and even if he gets to average skater status he will be an offensive star.

7 - Reinbacher - This is where the real draft starts and you can place anyone from #7-20 and make a case for most. Reinbacher fills many needs on the Habs and should be a great all round D man for many years.

8 - Dvorsky - Their are other sexier picks with higher upside but having Suzuki, Dach, Dvorsky, Beck down the middle sounds really tough to play against.

Maillouxs tools are way better
You are kidding right? The only thing Mailloux does better is shoot. His IQ is nowhere near Reinbachers, the skating is probably comparable, Reinbacher is the better passer

Mailloux has negative hockey sense. All he has are tools
He is almost like Jake Virtanen. All the tools but absolutely no tool box

If we’re talking “upside”, which this board is obsessed with, then yes.
He’s worse at 20 than Reinbacher is at 17/18. Say Reinbacher is available at 8 and a team wants a defenceman, what do you think the response would be if the Habs offered Mailloux for that pick?

Reinbacher is better in every way minus shot.

Reinbacher actually has a pretty good shot and the hockey IQ to know what to do with it
