Yuck. I hate robo umps.

I like the variability and the human element to the game.
i'm for it. how many times can an ump screw up calling strikes when the catcher's mitt is touching the ground? not calling strikes when the ball clearly goes through the middle of the strike zone?

i'm assuming they're still working on a solution for the problems the robo might cause regarding overhand breaking balls.

I'd be fine with keeping human umps if they got rid of the bad ones.

Too many f*** faces for me to be against using technology to get shit right.
When you consider how difficult of a job calling balls and strikes is, most umpires do a really good job. There's a twitter account I follow that grades the umps after each games and most games the umpires are like 95% accurate and 95% consistent. There was a guy in the WS that they graded as 100% accurate, which was the first time they had ever done that. With balls-strikes, most guys do very good work. It's the things that you're already allowed to review that are harder (and even then, most guys do a great job when you look at it).

Like you said, get rid of the guys who suck, and it's not even an issue.

Awesomely said. Was going to say basically the same.

Also i might add, i love the extra strategy in game involved. Like if an ump has a loose or tight zone. It changes the game and adds a layer of intrigue.

Plus seeing the ump with a punchout in a huge situation is fun to see rather than seeing the scoreboard say “strike”

To me the best would be if umps called the game but robo ump also called the game. Then each team can challenge 1 ball/strike call per game. This way it would only be used in the most crucial of moments.

Also, im just a fan of people over machines doing things in general. Not every aspect of everything needs to be perfect or done by machines. Being human and seeing humans are part of the fun.

Meh 🫤

The Yankees remained engaged with free agent outfielder Jurickson Profar, per Jon Morosi.

The 29-year-old is a former No. 1 prospect in baseball and coming off a solid 2022 season where he hit .243 with 15 HR, a 110 wRC+, and a 2.5 WAR. He is also a switch-hitter and can play the infield.

Yankees’ switch hitter, Aaron Hicks will stay in left field👀

Call me crazy but I never really saw Scott Rolen as "HOF" material watching him. 4th ever in gold gloves is good, I dunno.
I don't disagree, because I don't consider him a top 100 player, but 70 bWAR is not too shabby. Here's the company he's in:

He was a much better hitter than Ozzie Smith who got in solely for his glove. He was 10th best 3B all time by WAR. Aside from Beltre who was better from his era?

Definitely some good names there, I guess he flew under the HOF radar for me.

Ozzie Smith did legit work with the glove. I'm not trying to say he was a slouch, there was just a never time watching him where I said to myself "this dude is going into the HOF, no doubt".

I'm also of the thought that just because you're one of the best at a position in an era means you belong with the best ever, but I don't wanna sidetrack this whole thing

This is how I would vote in 2024, not how likely they are to get in.

Beltre is a no brainer. It'll be interesting to see how much the Astros scandal impacts Beltran's Hof vote.
