I've always thought it's dumb that 2 major league teams in different sports can have the same nickname.

It’s even dumber when looking back at history, there were plenty of cases of two teams in the same city with the same nickname.

calhoun is a nice pick up, as it's low risk high reward. i could see him making the club and getting at least 20 homeruns. he's gotta be an improvement over hicks right?

I bet Boras ends up being the key to getting it done. He has done deals with the injury protections before. He also knows that Correa isn't going to get more money elsewhere. Boras will squeeze what he can out of the Mets, convince Correa to take some sort of injury language, and leave making both sides feel like they made out (because he's an asshole, but one who is incredibly good at his job).

What's your thing with him? You've called him selfish, greedy, a jerk, a potato head (?), and now toxic. Is it just because he played for the Astros and you hate them?
In sports and entertainment marketing is a big deal. even more so than winning.
Are you gonna rush out and buy a jersey or even a t-shirt?
He cheated. hes concealed a major injury that teams have questions about. Otherwise he would have gotten his money.
Am I suppose to worship at the alter of Carlos without question?
Are you a investor that whatever he gets affects your bottom line?

What are you even taking about at the end? Guy isn't officially a player on my team and I have no real opinion of him. I'm just curious why you spew so much venom his direction.

Did he really conceal an injury? I don't think he did. The injury was known. It was out there. It was discussed in the past. He complies with physicals. Nothing was concealed. I read an article where they were talking to a doctor who said the likely situation here is that he now has arthritis in that area that has gotten worse over the years and it's to the point where teams are now concerned about it and how it will affect him in future years. Absolutely nothing suggests he has tried to hide it, only that he and his agent have disputed the seriousness of it--as any player and agent would do.

I totally understand disliking the guy because he was an Astro and a cheater or whatever. Calling him toxic and all that other stuff, it just makes you sound even more unhinged than normal.

Still seems like posturing to me. Yesterday we hear Correa is in contact with another team, today we hear the Mets are frustrated and may walk away. Both sides leaking.

That's not to say this won't fall apart, as that does unfortunately seem like a real possibility.

I haven’t read about this anywhere and it may be a stupid question but don’t some teams buy insurance for contracts? Would the Mets insure a Correa contract? Is it even insurable at this point?

Wasn’t David Wright’s contract insured?

Would any clauses about injury time be the de facto insurance?

Sorry if this is a silly question.
