i just LOL'd because then he goes to the mets

also this is not an angels-esque offseason

also for the yankee fans complaining, you guys did it first in the 2000's so i dont want to hear you bitching

i just wanted to tell you this is an excellent post.....top notch

I don't see anyone complaining? Everything Cohen has done has been within the rules.

I just don't think the allocation of the money or the moves made have been very smart and won't lead to a ton of on field success. It's very angels esque.

We'll see, but my guess is that all the fanfare right now is going to turn into outright rage in a few months.

All depends on health obviously...when healthy, Correa is one the truly elite players in the league.

he's also a better Shortstop than Lindor is, but it makes sense to slide him to 3rd as he's played it before and can handle it better than Lindor would. kinda like A-rod when he came to the Yankees.

Subway series just got even more exciting and heated with Correa joining the Mets.

you dont think other owners around baseball are freaking out?

when you say outrage are you saying from mets fans? because thats not going to happen

i would say every move so far has been an upgrade, obviously nimmo isnt an upgrade on himself and neither is diaz.....i would have been ok letting him go (nimmo) but thats fine

the team today is miles better then the team we had on the field in the playoffs last season....and we won over 100 games last year

fyi dont take this as critical towards you im genuinely enjoying the conversation about the mets for the first time in awhile

He actually isnt a better shortstop. Lindor outperforms him in all defensive metrics.

I'm sure they are, you mentioned fans.

The top 2 arms in their rotation are going to be 39 and 40 and their #3 hasn't thrown a single pitch at the major league level. I know Verlander and Scherzer are the 2 anomalies at the position of their generation, but I'd expect regressions from both of them (and a pretty significant one from Verlander.) If you want to argue that the rotation has a higher ceiling than what they rolled out last year I'd buy that, but its also got MUCH more risk.

Also I think there will be plenty of outrage if the team finishes 3rd in the division and/or gets knocked out in the WC again. It was there after they were eliminated this past season and they didn't spend a billion dollars in the offseason prior.

Correa is the Anthony Rendon deal from a few years ago. I expect he'll age similarly.

A lot is going on so just a friendly reminder that this is a home team thread for two teams.

You can critique the other team, but please be constructive.

If you took a million dollars in $100 bills, stacked it, and stood on it, you would be about 8 feet tall.

If you did the same with a billion dollars, you would be able to wash the windows of the top floor of the Empire State Building.

Yes but if you did it with any of our net worths, it would be the size of a large beetle.

You think Cohen's paying alot of luxury tax now, just wait until these contracts age and he continues getting the best free agents year after year and they keep adding new 'Cohen' taxes which he couldn't give two shits about. He will be funding the poorer team's yachts and vacas with those taxes so everyone will be happy (except Yankees, Red Sox and Dodgers fans). Man oh man!

Just wait till he signs Shohei Otani next year.

verlander won the cy young last year and hes only on a two year deal, even if he regresses from last year the guy had a 1.75 era last year, so he regresses to a 2.75? i mean we both know that cohen is going to go hard for ohtani to replace one of them.....im just not as concerned

You mean our #4. José Quintana is our #3.

As a casual Yankee fan, I don’t really have an issue with Cohen spilling money over the bars

If it motivates owners to spend more to improve their team, that’s good. I don’t care about how much money these owners lose lol

Other than one or two, most of the owners are cheapskates....I seem to recall that some of them won't even spend the revenue sharing money on their teams, but pocket it themselves.

I don't care either as a Yankees fan. But I suspect the smaller market teams will punish all the bigger market teams with a modest cap in the next CBA.
