The Danish roster for the two upcoming games against Norway has been announced.

Oscar Fisker Mølgaard (HV 71 - SHL) is away with the U18-team ( WJC-18 D1A) and Mikkel Aagaard's MODO is still involved in the Hockey Allsvenskan' finals, hence they are additions beyond this week.

Same goes for Joachim Blichfeld (Växjö - SHL), Frederik Storm (ERC Ingolstadt - DEL) & Nicolai Meyer (EC Salzburg – ICEHL), since they only recently concluded the season with their respective teams.

A handful of players from the Danish Elite League will likely also receive a call up.

Defenceman Mattias Lassen (Malmö Redhawks - SHL) is curently sitting out this week.

PERFECT NEWS !!!

As per interview with Danish Media outlet Tv2, Ehlers has confirmed that Winnipeg has cleared him to play so it's his own decision.

From the sound of it, he might not play prior to the start of the tournament, but the plan is to join the Danish team this coming week.

The roster for thursday's game against Latvia has been announced.

Most notabaly (in addition to Nikolaj Ehlers), junior center Oscar Fisker Mølgaard (HV 71) has rejoined the team and wingers Joachim Blichfeld (Växjö) and Mikkel Aagaard (MODO) have also been added.

The lack of natural centers, means that a winger or two will be moved inside. But with the recent additions, the roster has moved a lot closer towards being finalized.

I always wondered why Denmark is totally incapable of producing any PMD/offensive D. Philip Larsen is the only one coming to mind, even though he is/wasnt that good. Historically, have they even had one being on SHL level? apart from earlier mentioned Larsen, Doesn't even look like they're having something remotely interesting in the pipeline either.

Otherwise they already produced elite wingers, centers and goalies.

Many countries struggle with it due to the "defenders are there to defend" dogma. For example, who was the best offensive defenseman Russia has produced in almost 15 years between Markov and Orlov? Czechs between Zidlicky and Hronek? And their talent pool is enormous compared to the Danish one. Considering Philip Larsen was pretty damn close to the NHL level, this isn't a huge outlier.

Final roster? Anyone?

Nothing official yet, but according to Danish Media outlet BT, Mississauga Steelheads' defenceman Kasper Larsen is the odd man out on defence (don't really understand that decision).

That leaves one forward to be cut, and that could potentially be Ehlers.

He's traveling with the team to Finland, but apparently there's a couple of issues, including his insurance, which is said to be carrying a hefty price tag.

Hopefully it gets solved.

With how things have looked in the two latest games, it could be a long tournament for Denmark (and not in a good way).

Ehlers won't be the sole answer, but his offensive talents wouldn't hurt.

Jets shouldn't let Ehlers play. No matter what. Guy needs some recovery time. To me it looks like he may even have chronic shoulder problems now. Needs rest.

Ehlers has said that Winnipeg has cleared him and it ultimately will be his own decision (could of course change/have changed).

With this being the last tournament with Heinz Ehlers coaching Denmark, Nikolaj is obviously motivated to play, but health should come first and there will be another IHWC's, including one on home-ice in a couple of years.

Is Dichow a clear No. 1 goalie?

Dont know anything about the other two. Is Dahm injured or what?

Dahm has retired from the national team and yes Dichow enters the tournament as the starter.

And to put things into perspective,

Seldrup has yet to start a game at the IHWC-level and Sørensen has two starts back in 2018, so not a lot of starter experienced behind Dichow, and he's the youngest (22 vs 26 & 27 respectively) of the three.

Let's play a prediction game: Top 3 Point Predictions for the tournament for Danish players?
Feel free to add any reasoning also if needed.

Example:

1. Ehlers 6+3 = 9 pts
2. Boedker 2+7 = 9 pts
3. N. Jensen 4+2 = 6 pts
