With all due respect, Hughes couldn’t even dream to fill the shoes of dmen like Josi and Makar.
Why would he want to fill their shoes?
You should watch hockey more closely Bud….

He’s won it before and has been nominated. What’s with all this pouting on Josi? He’s rightfully recognized as a top defenseman. It’s not some travesty if Makar or Hughes wins over him nor would it be if he won.

Folks need to get off their soap box.
Really …..maybe just enjoy the current crop of top dmen that are in the League

Not sure anybody can poke holes in what Quinn did this year and how he drove the bus on a team that nobody thought would be near this good. He was just outstanding all year. Josi maybe has a case based on second half only and I would still unquestionably take Makar for “whose got the top gear/playoffs” but again, that’s not what this award is for.

People can complain about the award being all about offense but sorry, all the most impactful defenseman in the league these days are offensive defenseman. Its simply the more dominant, relevant skillset. Quinn deserves it and he deserves it without any of this faux outrage about “oh yeah this award isn’t even about defense” BS.

Playing with a 140-point generational talent helps. Hughes was the Canucks’ number one driving force for offense. Absolute bonkers possession time.

Throwing that generational term around these days like it's candy. Guy has never won a point or goal race, and this is the first year he's ever finished top 4 in points.

Yeah Cale clearly has his sights set on a second smythe rather than a second Norris. Congrats on the Norris huggy!

Cool. Hughes was better defenseman than Makar this season though, and that’s why Hughes is going to win the Norris. Better luck next year.
Better how? You would think you want your best defenceman on the ice when you're killing penalties.....

Josi is the correct answer

to the question “name an underrated elite NHLer”.

But, this is Quinn Hughes’ year.

Looks like his deployment works. He is without a doubt the most important skater for the canucks and they are a better team than the Avs in the season.

I'm still getting over the cringe feeling of seeing Erik Karlsson win the Norris last year. But yeah, this year is Quinn's year.
