I hope you're right.

Honestly, the 18, 19, and 20 yo trio has really made me cope with this. Everyone knows Z is one of my favorite players, and with the local ties and whatnot, but if we can get him and Drysdale back and going we are gonna be a force.

There's almost a zero percent chance the head coach of the team doesn't know what the exact injuries are. Not only does Cronin claim to not know what they are, he claims he doesn't even know *where* they are. Come on now.

Cronin is probably directed to not disclose the specifics just like as it is now, UBI or LBI.

Not to sound like a jerk but I think these injuries could be a result from the hold out and in which neither of them got a full training camp and/or preseason.

Agreed, but he should make a lot better effort to be sneaky or whatever if that's what he's trying to do. As the head coach of the team, saying he has no idea what their injuries are just sounds so amateurish.

If one didn't know medical info stuff is usually vague on purpose by the league (unless there's surgery involved), then it definitely sounds amateurish. I gotta remind myself that they know, but they can't disclose.

So f***ing annoying, just give us some information. Is any other professional sports team as bad as we are with this shit?

Sounds like they could be out for very long time still to come. It was odd how they said Zegras went on this most-recent road trip and it’s only been ominous since then.

Not at all. He's not a doctor. And it's clear the organization doesn't want to disclose the injuries otherwise we would have gotten a press release from the team describing what they are. He's the coach so he's got to face the media every day and this is the company line.

I'm actually impressed that he can maintain composure and reiterate the same thing in a polite way every time he gets asked. That's professionalism, even if it's not what we want to hear.

You're saying that the head coach of the team doesn't know exactly what the injuries are. You think the training staff hides them away and doesn't tell the coaching staff what the problem is?

Obviously he's not going to disclose it to the media because that's how injuries work in the NHL, but come up with a better line than "I don't know what their injuries are." That sounds ridiculous. That's all I'm saying.

I agree. How can he say on one hand,"...the recovery time on them is very tricky...," but on the other hand not know the nature of the injuries or where they are specifically? if he doesn't know the nature of the injuries, how can he say anything about the recovery time for the injuries?

That's not at all what I said. I said he's giving the company line. He probably knows, in general, what the injuries are - knee, groin, hamstring, etc. I think Cronin can know that but still not be outright lying when he says he doesn't know specifics.

It doesn't sound ridiculous at all to me. It sounds like a coach who knows his players are hurt, knows the general area (legs/core), but doesn't know specifically what muscle/tendon/ligament was pulled or how bad it is, and doesn't bother to ask because what does it matter to him? As long as the training staff says they're out, they're out. I'm sure he's getting updates on how close they are to returning, but otherwise, he's got healthy people to worry about.

And even if he does know more than he's letting on, it doesn't matter. The team obviously doesn't want him to disclose it, so he's not. I'm not going to blame him for that. And the NHL allows teams to be cagey with their injury disclosures, so they're going to be. I suppose you can be mad at Verbeek for not allowing more disclosure.

As a side note, with the NHL getting more and more into bed with the gambling community, I wonder how long they're going to let teams get away with the "lower body injury" stuff. They're going to get enhanced pressure from gambling interests to force teams into detailed disclosure.

Well say they were gonna be out for a longer team than we expect, letting it be known could hurt ticket sales and attendance ? After all the losing seasons, it wouldn't surprise me.

Yep, there's no downside for the Ducks to keep it a secret. The only fans they're going to tick off are going to be us die-hards, and while there's a small risk that a couple of us get peeved enough to quit the team, it's a pretty low risk. We're not going anywhere.

So keep it vague and hope that fans keep coming back while the team is successful.

So Cronin thinks it’s related to the hold out. Yeah like I said had a feeling. These guys have to prepare for a 82 game season have to get the proper workouts and preseason games in to prepare their bodies for big games and have to slowly do it. Z and Drysdale rushed right into the season playing regular season games where people don’t hold back.

I think it’s also why Killorn is off to a slow start. Missed most of preseason and he is still a little behind the rest of the team but not like Z and Drysdale.
