I find it odd that there is no hype or media coverage on Cowan making the team. It's possible he is only on the team for cap reasons for maximizing their LTIR space, and then promptly sent down to Jr.?
I am pretty sure he will be sent down prior to the first game and Gregor will get a contract. He isn't actually making the team in the practical sense.

Same with McMann. He and Cowan were included on the official 21 man roster as their salaries got the team closest to the cap, which is ideal for cap management purposes. I assume they will sign Gregor, send Cowan to junior and possibly McMann to the IR, and likely recall Holmberg or Kokkonen.

Yeah McMann didn't even play a game in the preseason due to injury. I imagine he actually is still injured and unavailable, but they're playing with some cap shenanigans

Most likely what's going on with McMann is that is injury isn't serious enough to place him on LTIR, but putting him on SOIR would carry a 194k dead cap hit and prevent them from carrying an extra player anyways, so they are probably just holding him on the active roster until he's healthy enough to return to play (pretty sure you can't try to send down injured players).

Looks like the Hunters have Easton on the Marner plan. Big minutes on the PP, big minutes on the PK, big minutes everywhere. Not quite as much pure talent around him as Mitch had but it seems like he has good chemistry with his linemates. He's in for a huge year, no way they leave him off the WJC. Coaches will love him.
