We're over it. But it still doesn't change the fact that AA has done a much, MUCH better job than Atkins has since he left for Atlanta. We're just stating facts.I think this management group can be judged without being some jilted lover for a decade. It's not like moving on from AA stops this management group from being held to account for failures. But AA has been gone for a long ass time and people honestly need to get the f*** over it lol.
Just because Berrios isn't historically a TOR pitcher doesn't mean he's not an adequate #3, which is what he's being paid for. Outside of his rookie season he's never been close to as bad as he has been this season. In my mind it's a fluke year that he hasn't been able to get himself out of. Ryu has had injury concerns, that's what Stripling was for. There was depth in the upper minors but they all decided to crap out at the same time which has also been a huge inconvenience. I think they expected at least one of Thornton, Hatch, Kay, Francis, and Murray to be a depth call up piece. Next year they'll have Tiedemann, Robberse, Van Eyk, Kloffenstein, Palmer, and Melean as other potential depth options at AA-AAA in 2023 with Zulu and Juenger I believe transitioning to the bullpen fulltime.
I also don't think we can be so confident in saying that (re: Stripling) when we had first hand experience watching Price falter and Estrada excel.
Not that it matters much, but its a front loaded deal at 16/10/10 so its in theory "Easier" to move 10/10 with retention or just outright releasing if need be.

They're gonna waste this gem from Stripling, aren't they?
Reverse jinx coming in clutchThe bullpen will give up one run and the Jays will get shut out.
id rather see this emotion when they do something that deserves it rather then them fooling around in the dugout in a losing effortLol. Here we go. Acting like 12 year old kids again just because they scored a couple of runs.
Relax boys, you haven’t won this game just yet.

look man at the end of the day a chip is a chip is chip. With the caveat of being in a weaker division and inheriting a team with a boatload of prospects + major league talent

Not to mention that the contracts he signed his young core to are ludicrous. Just sayin... pretty tidy work.
I like what shatkins have done but sometime it does feel like they're way too conservative instead of going for it.
He lost Freeman because Freddie f***ed around and found out. He also managed to come out a winner in that situation because he got a younger 1B locked in long term to soften the blow.
I would not at all be surprised if he finds a way to lock up Swanson too. Georgia boy who was a key part to their world series team. Though he's likely going to command big money on the open market.
No disagreement on my end there. Although I'll be honest, I'd have loved to see what he'd have done during the tdl from a jays perspective this year... In a parallel universe we may just have shipped Bo for Soto hahaRight, but these would be the same people that would say Shapiro and Atkins have zero playoff appearances to their name because 2016 was AA’s team and 2020 was a covid shortened season.
AA could’ve gone anywhere (and he was chilling with the elite Dodgers) but he went to a team that finished 72-90 and went 90-72 the next season. There’s a big reason for that and it’s not because of his preseason acquisition of McCarthy and Culberson. He’s been a guru with the extensions (though slated to lose Swanson, and lost Freeman the offseason before), that’s an obvious. But wasn’t he on record as saying he would’ve given an offer to Price? Who knows what he would’ve tried with the 2015 core but nevertheless the team needed a rebuild by 2017.
