Overrated young "star" with a mentally weak pitcher is a bad combo.
This team was never good enough, but hey maybe they win the world series of potential

How do they not at least get the force at 3rd?

My f***ing god this team. All thanks to Kikuchi being a mental midget.
Honestly, they’ve looked lethargic and lacklustre since the deadline. I think they were expecting bigger moves to bolster the roster and Atkins underdelivered badly. I’m not saying they’re moping, but they’re playing like crap.

Bo made a good play on the throw to home honestly. That one isn't on him. That was Mateo just getting a superb jump.

I find the failure to get an out at third more offensive.

Team didn't really deserve bigger upgrades. No point wasting prospect capital on a team that just isn't good enough this season

That was always the concern. Team wouldn't react well to the deadline. This is all on management. It's crazy their deadline still gets defended

With that kind of attitude, they’ll never be good enough.
Team is one piece away. There wasn't many players available that would fix the issues on this team. Why give up top prospect for a short term fix if the short term asset isn't going to turn you into a world series contender

If this team is serious about the postseason then Kikuchi absolutely can't start again.

Take him out of the rotation and hope to god Berrios can rebound from that disaster against Cleveland and call up somebody from AAA

Won't Stripling be ready by the next start?

Seems like you just take out Kikuchi instead of White.

Sometimes you need to make ballsy trades involving good assets. Gillick did that a lot.

People like to bring up the Berrios trade as ballsy, but they traded two prospects whose hype was fading. It wasn’t really that asset risky.

Out of curiosity what did you expect them to do?
I didn't want them to do what the Padres did. Impactful moves to the BP were fine. Bass is okay but can't be your only and best move. Pop again shouldn't be one of your main moves.
Really overall a half measured approach that just isn't good enough.
I don't blame the players for not handling it well if thats what has happened

They haven't been all year. Only thing feeding them was off season hype

Too many players having down years for this team to be considered a contender
Thats fair. Now what is this season is what these players are? Decent chance of that

Yeah Stripling should be good to go for his next scheduled start.

Should be a rotation of Manoah/Gausman/Stripling/White/Berrios going forward.

Starting Kikuchi is malpractice at this point. At least Berrios has shown he can be good this year.

Kid: Mom can we get a a pikachu stuffed toy?
Mom: we have one at home.
The toy at home: Le kikuchi

There needed to be more than just impactful moves to the BP.

The Jays didn't have the farm system to trade for elite players unless of course, the team wanted to gut it completely.

Off season is a better time to make ballsy trades.

No trade would've been able to fix this team. 2/5s of the rotation are mental midgets, springer can't stay healthy, Bo hasn't been right all season, a bunch of guys with hot starts have cooled down the past month, oh and the bullpen is capable of becoming a tire fire at a moment's notice. What trade is magically going to fix this?

Imagine being one of the hottest teams in baseball leading up to the deadline with a 5 game lead on the top wildcard spot, having put up 25+ runs on a team just a few nights ago, and your general manager goes out and gets you two relief pitchers, a stretch guy and a utility bat hitting at .650 OPS on the season.

Definitely inspiring. :sarcasm:
