Ordinarily I would agree 100% with the first part of your statement, but with the way Kirk is raking and Teo is heating up, they don't really have a choice anymore but to pitch to him. Our lineup is loaded and no real weak spots unless Zimmer is in.

Yeah, Kirk has to be one of the scariest batters to face with a runner on 2B and none out. He isn't the same HR threat as Vladdy or Teo or some of the others, but you just need a base hit to (likely) end the game there, and Kirk's hitting .375 in the last month.

Are we getting some kind of Karma thing for saying we dodged a bullet with Ray early on. Gausman is falling apart since his incredible start. It’s becoming a concern. As much of a concern as splitting the overall series between the tigers and orioles series combined. This is embarrassing. This team is showing it’s not close.

Well we couldn’t sweep the tigers or Baltimore so I wouldn’t get your hopes up. All the talk about the yanks having the advantage because they got to play so many bottom feeders. Well they did you should do and we did what we did

Might be time to admit Jays are not in the same class as the Yankees
 
Today's a game Gausman should do better and the bats need to show some support.

6-4 against bottom feeders won't get this team caught up against the Yanks, they've taken care of these poor teams.

We will see at the end of the season and in the playoffs. There is a reason why Jays were ranked 2nd behind LA Dodgers in pre-season power rankings. It’s a marathon, not a sprint. I am still confident we will beat them in the playoffs, and make it further.

As much as this stretch has been frustrating because it was a chance to pile on a bunch of wins in an easy stretch of the schedule... I don't buy this at all.

The Yankees aren't going to win 120 games. They're going to hit a stretch where they play like garbage for a couple of weeks and the other tops teams close the gap. The biggest thing for the Jays is to play well against the Yankees and starting gaining ground there, and the idea that they can't do that because they played a few bad games against shitty teams recently is silly.

I don't know whether the Jays will catch the Yankees, but I would predict they'll gain ground over the rest of the season.

I like our offense better and the rotation can go toe to toe if Kikuchi can turn it around

The bullpen isn't close at the moment, but a couple of deadline additions (and/or call-ups) can definitely shorten the gap
