Bo’s defense is going to cost us in big games. I dunno what the solution is but I’m not sure he can be your starting SS in the field in the playoffs.

Well when you have the likes of Tapia, Collins, Zimmer, Heineman the list goes on. They don't scare anyone. Pathetic lineup for awhile now.

Just finishing the game on PVR, though I didn't really pay much attention to the last 2 innings. The Umps were downright brutal tonight. Not just the bad calls in the 7th. I think the first one was closer than it looked, Vlad's foot moved twice, the 1st as he caught the ball, the 2nd after. His foot might have just slipped off the first time. I think the best angle would have been from home plate but they only showed that one once right away and at full speed. The 2nd one was just brutal for multiple reasons. He tagged him, the runner also runs towards the mound completely out his established base paths. But also because of the dumb challenge system. I thought you could ask for an ump initiated review in 3 cases, 1. boundary calls, 2. 8th inning or later, 3. scoring plays which would have applied in this case. I guess not. Also I'll again suggest a team shouldn't lose a challenge from an inconclusive challenge. The earlier challenge wasn't proven wrong, they were just unable to tell if the umpire or the Jays were right. If you cannot be told your challenge was definitively wrong the Jays would have still had that challenge to overturn the 2nd bad call which was pretty much crippling and effectively ended the game. The ball and strike calls were also so bad. FOR BOTH TEAMS. Early on there were a number of blatantly bad calls. The umpire annoyance from this game will more come from those 2 plays in the 7th but don't let overshadow just how brutal the strike zone was tonight.

Despite all that the Jays won't win games when they score 1 run. Something has to change. I don't know if it's Montoyo's lineups that are doing this but they're not helping. When you have 2 or 3 bad lefties in the lineup in theory RLRLR makes sense. In reality what you're doing is Good Bad Good Bad Good. A good player gets on and is immediately followed by a bad hitter. It's not only that obviously, even the good hitters haven't been good and Tapia has been better than a lot of them, but just make a change for the sake of change. Whatever they're doing offensively isn't working right now in term of getting multiple hits in a row.

I always wondered why MLB didn't pitch to Vladdy, the way he is being treated now.

He has super fast hands but he has a body that makes Big Papi look as svelte as Snoop Dog. Way too bulky at the plate.

Pretty spry at first base though But you take a porker like that and have him lunging all over the plate and don't give him anything he likes.

Bichette is being pitched well now as well Give him appetizers first two pitches and get him behind in the count.

I would have traded both of them at their highs But that is what I do for a living, I don't consider the human element or fans.

Hernandez should help and possibly help a lot, but that embarrasing dugout is a lot less embarassing now that VLaddy is being exposed.

Hey I love the Jays but this team, might easily miss the playoffs. We are getting 10/10 pitching, can that continue to disguise triple A hitting? I guess anything is possible.

Lmao foh

Come on, we don't want Big Papi on the team? If thats the comparison then whats the negative, thats a FoH'er ranking somewhere in a discussion of all-time offensive players.

The hitting is coming. There is no world in which I am worried about this team not hitting enough. Especially Vlad.

What the actual hell? Umping in this league is a god damned joke.
The worst was Vladdy tagging the runner going home, that was pretty obvious. Those bad calls didn't cost the game, but it did turn a close game into a blow out.

Neither player has hit their high though? They’re 23 and 24 years old. Dozens of top prospects at their age are just cracking the MLB. Weird how you praise Teoscar when he didn’t break out until his late 20s. Also not sure what you mean by “embarrassing dugout”. I’m just going to assume you don’t like players having fun.

Just a slump for Vlad. Doesn’t mean he is getting “exposed”. I am sure all the greats had slumps too. Manny Ramirez, Mike Trout, Miggy. I am sure he will get it together, too talented not to. Let’s not panic here. “They may easily miss the playoffs”, non-sense. First time they lost 2 in a row since last September, and first series loss of the season. This is a quality team. We will have our own 9 or 10 gamer at some point, and Yanks will cool off. This is baseball.

This is really something special.

He’s also scorching the ball this series. He hasn’t produced the last 10 days… but that’s just 10 days.

A few of these guys are also notable slow starters. Gurriel, Chapman, Bichette, these guys generally don’t get hot until June.

*elite hitter for the last ~180 games*
*struggles for a week*

"I knew it! The league has figured him out! Should have traded him!"

Good management would have noticed this,as far back as last season.

Why he’s still batting 2nd is beyond me. Well montoyo is the manager so I guess there’s that

Sometimes it’s good to take a beating. Maybe wake the boys up. The bats have been trash all year
Never good to take a beating.Where on earth did you come up with that theory.

The league has caught on to the Jays hitters love of fast balls. Now it’s basically
low and away, and our guys are now swinging at fresh air.But not to worry,we have Charlie to sort things out.

Fun fact: Jays batters have seen the 4th highest increase in FB% over last year.

The Jays have seen the most velocity in the league by a mile

... which is what happens when 20 of your first 26 games are against Houston/NYY/Boston, three playoff teams from last year with three of the hardest-throwing staffs in MLB.

A lot of the statistical anomalies we're seeing will even out once the schedule gets balanced out with a bunch of games against Baltimore/Detroit/etc.
