Worst inning I've ever seen Romano pitch. Just would not throw a fastball and challenge them. Pitched scared and got crushed.

Good thing no one was watching this shitshow of a game. (I just had gamecast going) on the side). Like ive said a lot, I'm usually very supportive of umpires but tossing Garcia is a joke. It makes zero sense to be throwing at him in that situation.

This is coming from someone who has ejected pitchers for throwing at batters, so not to act like i'm better than the average person but I do know all the checkboxes when you have to make that decision. And there aren't very many checked there.

Just finding ways to lose at this point. Sucks watching the season tank so early

And then NOT toss the pitcher who throws at a batter the very next inning.

Umpires: "We have to consider a lot of factors in ejecting someone. We could've issued warnings but we felt given the circumstances it was correct to eject Garcia."

Reporter: "What about the fact that it was a tie game in the 6th inning with a man on base and there's an epidemic of pitchers losing their grips on the ball across the league lately."

Umpires: "that was irrelevant. We decided to eject the guy."

Bang-up job, guys.

You know you've screwed up when neither team thought the pitcher should have been tossed.

Also, if you toss Garcia, then you cannot under any circumstances allow the Yankees to hit a Jay. You lose the entire "accidental" argument. Either you let both go (which they should have), or you toss both. Instead, they decided to arbitrarily toss Garcia.

Before yesterday, Umpire Scorecards had the Yankees averaging 0.25 runs per game on umpire impact. That is ridiculous.

While more incorrect calls were in our favor, he ended the 1st with a blown call (the Gurriel K was the worst strike of the game by a country mile), the strike against Vlad in the 2nd was awful (and ended a rally because instead of 3-0, it was 2-1 and Vlad had to swing at a pitch he wouldn't otherwise have swung at), he called strikes 2 and 3 against Chapman in the 4th on balls, and then strike 2 against Heineman was also an awful call.

Of the 4 worst calls, 3 went against Toronto in the first 4 innings.

For the record, the Jays have played poorly for the first month of the season, have had a couple key injuries, have had probably the most compact and objectively difficult schedule of any team in the league... and are currently on pace for 89 wins and sitting in a playoff spot.

Also, for the record, this team won't win in the playoffs (as constructed), because Charlie will choose to play Tapia or Zimmer.

I mean... even as constructed those guys won't play in the playoffs other than as a pinch-runner or defensive replacement.

Sure they will. They will play OF and we will give an OF a day off.
Because everything is always Montoyo's fault for some people, I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not. But in case you aren't... you know there's a difference between a playoff series and trying to keep guys healthy and playing at 100% throughout the season, right?

I don't think Charlie makes the lineup, but the fact remains that we've gone well beyond resting guys for later in the season. We've played 31 games and so far Tapia has 8 less PA than Espinal (who has had 1 day off). That's not resting pace, that's Tapia is an everyday player pace.

The starting RF has missed 22 of those 31 games. Who did you expect those PA to go to?
