Honestly, if Springer needs a day off (reasonable given his injury history) you can't just not let him rest because a couple other guys are hurt. And with those players available today, and assuming Vlad and Bo prefer not to hit leadoff... I don't really know what the alternative is. I would probably put Espinal at the top, but is that THAT much better?

I don't like the lineup, but with Teo and Jansen out and Springer needing a day off, I don't think there's any possible lineup Montoyo could have made that people would have been happy with.

The idea is to try to keep guys at 100% throughout the season instead of letting them getting tired first and then giving them time off.

Also, Springer has a hell of an injury history. It'll hurt the team today, but they'll be better off in the long run if he can stay healthy.
