Isn’t everyone down right now due to shortened spring training? I think he also started last season off slower too.

He started off last year really good touching close to 98. His velocity started to dip towards the end of last year 94-95. So far, he has had the biggest drop of any pitcher. He's bottoming out at 90MPH which is well below he was last year. He had a slight increase last year compared to 2020 which is why he had a strong season.

If his velocity doesn't get back to 96-97 he's going to be awful.

Most pitcher's velocities are where they should be.

His fastball is bottoming out at 90? Wow, I did not know that.

Heere's last game.

One caveat, the conditions weren't great with a lot of rain but the rain stopped and he still couldn't get his velocity up.

Maybe the Jays saw this too and that’s one of the reasons they shifted so quickly to Gausman?

They showed Kerry Einerson's curling team in the stands to advertise the Raps game but didn't say anything about the curling team?

Good game from Stripling. I was always in his corner over Kikuchi. People knocked him, of course. Hm..I wonder where those people are, now?

They should stop messing around with Collins and call up Moreno to DH for Hernandez. They're already down a catcher. Might as well bring up the one that might fill in for both an RBI bat AND at catcher if necessary. It's not like they don't have a bunch of back up fielders available.

So, I wonder if anyone will ever break the gender barrier?

Surely they would have been aware - a few of us here were commenting on the velocity drop at the end of last season, although I just assumed he was tired and would bounce back with a rested offseason.

Gausman struggled in the back half of last year, too, though.
