I know their reasoning, I don’t agree doing that with an 8-1 lead and Gausman getting the last two batters. His pitch count was fine.

If they lose this game, it’s on Schneider unquestionably.

Gausman came within a couple inches of giving up a dinger to Santana in his prior at-bat. He was also fading and had given up baserunners. His pitch count might've been fine, but his results were fading and he was up against a guy who had the advantage against him. It was an entirely defensible move that just happened to not work out. Because you can do everything right and still have it blow up in your face.
