Not a fan of doing the pen game today. I get that they want their best starters all facing Tampa, but assuming White comes back for 1 of the doubleheader games their 5 starters will pitch in 4 days against Tampa and then they're going to have to do yet another bullpen game Friday against Baltimore which is also an important game. If they just used Berrios today they could do 1 pen game against Tampa and that's it instead of 2 pen games, today against Texas and Friday against Baltimore

What are the thoughts about Matt Chapman? He strikes out way too much. Just drives me nuts at how little contact he makes. But when he does make contact it is hit pretty hard. 3.1 WAR player, 119 OPS+ according to Baseball Reference. Obviously the defence is the best thing about him, IMO.

27% strikeout rate isn't that bad. I mean yeah it's bad but it's not like he's out there whiffing like crazy and having nothing to show for it. He is what he appears to be: a loud power bat that gets on base because he also takes a ton of walks and is more than playable at 3rd even before you get into the fact that he is a super-elite defender.

As for contact, yeah he doesn't make a ton but if we look at raw contact % (as in all instances of striking a ball that is swung at, regardless of outcome) he's not even the worst guy on the team. He ranks higher than Teoscar and Springer.

MLB really needs to implement a strike zone that relays the pitch to the ump in an ear piece so they can start making the right calls going forward, this is getting ridiculous across the league imo.
