I might be wrong, but IIRC, tarheel and Halle were the ones who first wanted to fight behind the Bojangles years back.
it's true, and i have the picture to prove it:

I think there's a very real possibility he could be claimed. Still enough old school GMs in the league to want a glue guy like this.
Who Buffalo? Arizona probably doesnt want the real money.

honestly due to him being a Assistant Captain, DW and crew probably asked around the league to see who would claim him before dropping him on waivers. Give Martinook an idea of what to expect.

Buffalo, Detroit, I could see Nashville convincing themselves. Maybe after an 8-1 drubbing Columbus decides to poke their big brother and we see Martinook on Wednesday. Who knows. Not saying it will happen, just saying I think Martinook's reputation as a good guy in the room extends further than Raleigh and I wouldn't be surprised if a young-er team with cap space takes a flier for him to do with their young guys what he did with Svech.

If Martinook gets claimed, is it really the end of the world?

They’d have an extra $1.8M in cap to play with next year and this year, that 4th line looks a lot better as Drury-Stepan-Kase than with Martinook in any of those spots.

That said, I’d be floored if he got claimed.

Not on the ice. Depends how much you buy into locker room chemistry (or how much good feelings Martinook still brings).

Not only does he have that extra year, but also his real salary is $2.7 mil for 23-24.

Minimal risk of a claim.
Yeah I don't really see him getting claimed. If anything, we'd work out a side deal and maybe retain some salary but even that is probably not happening. But I never thought we'd actually waive the guy, so who knows.

I'm flabbergasted. My first thought is Rod and Waddell got into a screaming match and this is Waddell's way of "going nuclear" on Rod.

This is one of those things where the culture of the team matters more than Martinook's cap hit. I hope they talked it over with Jordan Martinook's camp and soothed the way for this move. This coming as a surprise could really sour the locker room right before season starts. I sincerely doubt he will be claimed or they would have just traded him for future considerations or something.

We aren't a dysfunctional org anymore. It's shocking to us and maybe even to some of the team but they are pros. They know Marty won't exactly be dumpster diving and is still well taken care of regardless of what happens. It's part of the job.
