Interesting groups. Am I remiss or in past years have they typically tried to spread out the likely roster across both groups? There’s a clear “guys we think will make it” and “guys we don’t think will make it” divide here.

Drury and Noesen’s spots on C1 are very interesting. They’re the clubhouse leaders to start, I guess.

Also interesting to see of the 5 guys competing for the last 2 D spots, Lajoie seems to get the short end of the stick.

Wild speculation as to how they've split up the teams - the fact that there's 8 defenseman on team C1 makes me wonder if the Bear trade rumors have legs.
Maybe, but I think it may just be a wide open competition for 3rd pair RHD between Bear, Coghlan and Chatfield. If Bear doesn't run away with it we trade him, if he does we keep him.

I wonder what the team's preference is here. Outside of Bear looking like he did pre-COVID last year creating a sneaky good 3rd line, I wonder if having someone like Coghlan with the cannon he has would be better off for the style we are trying to play.

I imagine based on market value they'd be thrilled if Coghlan or Chatfield earned the role outright. I bet Bear would net us a higher pick than either of them. Plus they're both cheaper.

Dzingel with the prospects.
Not surprising I guess. Was always thought it was a two way deal for the minors. Guys on PTOs are going to get a better look in camp to see if a contract is warranted.

At a certain point, the delineation point between those 2 options become very blurred, so I'll just answer 'yes'
Gotcha, so you’re saying there’s no legit insider saying Bear for Hoglander, which was my real question.

We really weren't in such dire shape to get Gards on LTIR, especially with Patches' injury, so I don't think this is a bullshit "setback" I think it's legit. Bummed for Gards, yes it's ultimately probably better for the team but I was actually slightly looking forward to seeing a healthy Gards QBing our PP2.
