More bad news, NA? (joking / smile)

I am glad Savoie is there - been get mixed signals on his attendance.

That's still a heck of a team.

Still a really good forward core even with all the depletions there, defense is the same minus Power, goaltending duo is the same minus Cossa.

Glad to see Savoie. I'd rather a defenceman that can return in 2023 be there than Hunt, but they liked his game a lot so he isn't a surprise.

Drives me nuts Wright isn’t playing, he’s an 04 and hasn’t earned the title of being too good for this tournament. Was a non factor in the games that were played at Christmas and it isn’t like he’s the 1st overall pick. He shouldn’t even make Seattle this year, he’ll be rushed big time if so. Most of the kids sitting out besides Power, Perfetti and Mctavish will be playing 10 minutes a night come October with their teams, playing a tournament in august against high level competition will only benefit them.

I agree that he isn't above this tournament and shouldn't be a lock to make Seattle by any stretch. I don't really blame any player for focusing on making the NHL given the timing of this tournament and the debacle that the original edition of the tournament turned into. I will give extra credit to a guy like Johnson however, who has shown up for Canada to a ridiculous degree over the last year.

Agreed, I understand the desire to want to focus on NHL camps, but to me this is arguably the best place to prepare and then still have 2 weeks to rest and train before camps begin. I too give Johnson a lot of credit as to me he’s much more deserving of a full time NHL spot than someone like Wright is. I don’t want to pile onto Wright as he is a really good player, but there certainly is legs to the idea he’s very self centred. That dates back to his Don Mills days, always been a me-me-me type. Good kid otherwise though. Even a guy like Mctavish in my eyes should be playing in this. It isn’t as if he’s going to be a relied upon player in Anaheim this season

Agreed, have always liked Hunts game. I’d consider someone like Colton Dach for this team, Del Bel Belluz as well

Going 4OA instead of 1st, as had been projected for a very long time, you'd think Wright would eagerly grab every possible chance to prove his doubters wrong.

I realize that the Kraken have some say in the matter, but it's quite puzzling that he isn't seizing this opportunity.

I like guys like Kent Johnson who obviously have a strong passion for hockey.

I don't really get how teams or players think training is better preparation for hockey than playing hockey. As guys always say when they are coming back from missing games, you don't replicate the feel of a real game with training and practice.

Well said, we always talk how hockey is too much of a business and these kids are just assets, well the players and their agents themselves are part of the problem for that. Unless something will directly benefit their careers, they’re out. Guys like Johnson who clearly love the game and want to represent their country are guys you win with long term. Honestly unless the Kraken are vehemently opposing Wright from playing, and he doesn’t make Seattle or is back in junior by December, I’d cut him from the Christmas team as well. I know he’s a good kid but his overall demeanour and attitude really have started to rub me the wrong way. The hype you built from being a man amongst boys at 15-16 isn’t enough to carry you through your career. Honest question, say nobody had ever heard of Wright or seen him play prior to this past year, does he even go top 20? I watched him live 12 times this year and he hasn’t improved much at all since his first OHL season. His reputation is all built off hype from years ago.

Thought I would share that I follow Pat Mayo on Twitter who is a golf handicapper. He tweeted last night that he just got word his cousin made the Canadian World JR’s team. His cousin is Riley Kidney Habs second rounder.

Appreciate this! If they're letting players know I'd assume the roster will be released tomorrow then! Exiting!

TC should be inviting jean luc foudy, look at his recent AHL playoff stats.
This speedy forward has 2 seasons in the AHL, a perfect 3rd line forward with the puck carrying skill compatible for the internation game.

Hey NA...

Are you sure Wright will not be playing?

Just a bizarre post.

If Seattle and Shane Wright want him to focus on training, getting stronger, and ready for an NHL camp, then fine. That's what they decided. It has no relation to who "will win long-term".

Do you know the kid? You know his attitude? I'm not going to make judgements about it. Who knows?

And yes, he would absolutely be a top-20 pick. He was one of the top U18 CHL players. Of course he would. This is delusional. He had a similar season to previous 1st overalls like RNH and Hischier.

I am 99.5% percent sure he is not playing

"So you're saying there's a chance!"

Why do you feel so strongly? Has there been anything on line or just what you've heard?

I have NO idea why Seattle would NOT let him play. Of course, I say that and then Logan Cooley gets cut in a scrimmage.

They definitely could, but just considering it seems to be radio silent, I doubt it on that front.

Fingers are crossed still, though, ORRFF.
Amen, brother.

As others have said, if he went 1OA, I could see them keeping him but, since he slipped to 4OA, it might be a perfect opportunity to show Montreal, New Jersey and Arizona what they missed.
