18 days until the first day. Canada does not play until Day 2. It will be a weak Round Robin but beggars cannot be choosers.

Assuming Connor Bedard gets to keep his scoring from December, he could threaten the Canadian scoring titles at the WJR's.

Would be awesome to see him put his stamp on this World Juniors and pick up right where he left off before the cancellation of the last tourney.

Getting pretty excited to see the full roster announced, too.

Yup.

I wonder if Bedard's grown/bulked up - there's always been a concern about his size. I just hope we get to see Bedard and Wright play on Team Canada - just like at the U18's / it would be a hell of a one two punch.

The real trick in selecting this roster will be choosing players who are unlikely to participate in a group sexual assault. I would think with the allegations now being thrown at the 2003 team as well, that having players who can act like decent human beings is more important for Hockey Canada than having players who can put the puck in the net. I don't know if Logan Mailloux is still eligible but they should just leave any London Knights off the squad altogether. Something is clearly lacking in that club's moral compass. Maybe just getting some chemically castrated house league players to wear the maple leaf for a while is the best course of action. Nobody cares about this tournament but us anyway, but I don't even know if that's going to be true for much longer.

Anyway...

It will be interesting to see how many players the U.S. loses. Sounds like Finland will remain intact. I sure wish we'd get some roster possibilities from TSN.

Anyone got projected lines?

It's difficult to project because it's difficult to get a handle on which players won't go. I'd guess that most of the defencemen from September will show up since few of them are contenders to make their NHL teams, so that could yield some fierce competition for few remaining spots. Wouldn't be surprised if Jack Thompson makes the team since he seemed to have good odds before getting covid. The rumours make it seem like a lot of the forwards will be missing. I'd hope to see guys like Johnston and Othmann there since they can contribute in 2023 as well. Wouldn't be surprised to see Tverberg make it along with some of the other late cuts from December.

I'll be honest, I am not much in the mood for lineups right now.

I'm really, really angry at HC.
Try and enjoy the hockey - both the anticipation and the tournament, otherwise you are only hurting yourself, JJ.

While I don't condone any of the players actions for what might have taken place I have to start the blame game off with Hockey Canada. These guys are still kids not fully functioning adults. It is Hockey Canada's duty to look after these guys and make sure that they don't get into trouble. Reading a description of the proceedings in London ie open bar and alcohol served with dinner is like standing around a fire with a 5 gallon container of gasoline. What the hell do you think will happen when you throw it on.

There is definitely a problem with young men and their attitude toward women today. There is also a problem with our relationship to alcohol and I don't refer to just young men in that statement. Once again I don't absolve any of the players for any misdeeds but we reap what we have sown as far as societal norms are concerned. We as adults should know better and do better.

Hockey Canada should give us a better perspective on which players MIGHT be playing - but, then again, maybe they don't know.

Some of the number I have been hearing, as far as players not available, is in the high teens. Yikes!

All players that are on the team and participating know. Itinerary's, plane tickets have all been issued.

I'll take a crack at it, based on assumptions that various players won't be available. Off the top of my head: Byfield, Jarvis, Sillinger, McTavish, Bourgault, Bourque, Lapierre, Greig, Drysdale, Power, Guhle, Cossa.

Othmann Johnson Foerster
Roy Johnston Stankoven
Cuylle Bedard Sourdif
L'Heureux Desnoyer Tverberg
Bolduc, Savoie

Zellweger Sebrango
Lambos Thompson
Cormier O'Rourke
Hunt, Seeley

Garand
Brochu
Gaudreau

Wyatt Johnston likely won't attend. He is still dealing with an injury he sustained in the OHL playoffs.

Thanks for giving this a go, JackSlater.

It's nice to just be able to view some form of lines/structure for the upcoming squad.

By all accounts, looks like it's going to be a very deep, strong team even with all of the omissions. Pretty scary, to be honest.

Cuylle-Bedard-Sourdif would be a pretty damn fun line to watch this tournament. Cool blend of high end play-making and some overall just nasty.

Can't wait for a bit more clarity in the coming days on the roster.
