So the Jets easily clean up the 8th spot as they upgraded their d and hope to make more of a push in next years playoffs. Many question marks still tho but we will see. Who goes next one of the recent Cup winners like Washington Pittsburgh or the St Louis Blues?? Who ya got?

Gotta believe that the next three logical choices are Pittsburgh, Washington and Dallas, in no particular order. Voted Pittsburgh.

I don’t even see Pittsburgh making the playoff. They are past it IMO.

Going with Toronto.

They were 5th in the league standings last year, won the toughest division in the league. They've never missed in the Crosby/Malkin era.
They won't miss the playoffs. 2 of the past 3 teams voted in? Sure - those teams will miss. Not Pittsburgh though

Recent history says you might be right - but they've shown in the past an ability to go very far and win, even when we stop expecting them to (2016). So when it comes to talking about 'most likely to win the cup' - I think they should be a contender.

For what it's worth - and no disrespect to the Islanders who were great - if it wasn't for an all-time bad playoff performance by their goalie, there's a good chance they would have went farther last year. If their goalie isn't up to par this year, they'll get some reinforcement I expect.

Penguins - they were a goalie away from probably going to the 3rd round.

People still trying to find ways to downplay what the Islanders accomplished. It wasn't just Jarry that got abused in that series. Take a gander at the Pens entire top line. Completely shut the F down

I don't mind Toronto going now. I think Pittsburgh should definitely be ahead of them, but Toronto isn't a horrible pick.

Their forwards have to figure it out eventually - but I think my bigger worry for Toronto is actually their goaltending. Campbell was solid last season and even real good in round 1, but overall he's extremely unproven in both playoffs and regular season as a starter. I think it's a huge question mark if he can do well as a starter moving forward.

As for Mrazek - he's had flashes of very strong play in his career, but also much more stretches of more average numbers. Not sure he's capable of doing the job as #1 goalie for a stanley cup winning team either.

It's almost like goalies making saves when the opposition gets a scoring chance versus goalies not making a save when the opposition gets a scoring chance might factor into that. :D

St.Louis is nit getting any love here. I’m not a Bkues fan at allbut they added Buch and Saad , won the cup very recently and I think improved their forward group?

Pietro gone, Tarasenko broken, Binnington exposed.. There's plenty of reasons to not vote St. Louis.

I'm a Blues fan and there's not a snowball's chance they win another stanley cup, can't win without a #1 defenseman

Sure you can if your forwards are at or near the top of the league and your goalie is top notch when it counts.

Since the Blues have neither of those criteria your right they are not winning a cup this year.
