I don't follow prospects at all but....

The rumoured players that were gonna go to the Leafs are all gone: Ohgren, Mcgroaty, Ostlund, Mateychuk. The remaining guy was Jaggar Firkus, if they traded the 25th pick they either weren't that interested in him or they felt that he'd be available at 38th.

Dropping spots to dump Mrazek may not seem to bad but once again we have to give up something because of a previous crappy move.

He traded down to get rid of Mrazek, context matters. The price is fine to do. Better to fix mistakes before it blows up.

Leafs have now 3.8M more cap space they didn't have and they still have for moving down.

Context is the Leafs are in an asset burning mode to cover for their constant “bets”. This isn’t the way to build a sustainable program.

marzack is gone , praise the lord

It was a stupid move to sign Mrazek to 3.5 million a year in the first place.

Well if they were going to dump him at the first sign of adversity, then yes.

In general, no. This does not seem like a "Dubas" move to me. Just like he said in his presser yesterday, he has the large track record of success.

The only thing is if he is so damaged from those three groin injuries that they don't think he is going to recover, which seemed to be the nail in 2 Medical Staff members coffins (including the Director). Dubas was definitely done with these guys with no prior injuries getting hampered by injuries.

That is the line of thinking I am going with, because otherwise Dubas needs to really stop contradicting his own plan.

Seems Leafs hoped for a particular guy and when he was gone they probably have 5 more they figure they like ready at 38 ... so you get rid of 3.5 million or so for moving back. It's a good move considering. Bad signing but you can't win them all.
Kyle looks like he is going to cry.
