Matthews was much better than Wright, but Laine was much better than Slafkovsky. It's not as egregious, but still really bad
I would have taken Slaf over Wright. It's not clear cut. Wright didn't play hard at all this year and floated through games. Both had serious question marks. Wright had a lot of exceptional status hype attached and his U-18 where he scored on 50% of his shots.

I trust Wright's play away from the puck more than Slafkovsky. He's less physical, but seems much smarter defensively. Slaf's production and skating/decision making should have disqualified him from going first overall
