Schenn's Leaf Prospect Rankings. Lisowsky was added with 2 votes (tie with Douglas goes to my vote)

Here are the rules:

1. Each poll will be open for 24 hours.

2. As we never have a consensus way as to which players are still considered prospects, we'll be using my way of cutting off prospects. The player must be U24 and have less than 50 GP in the NHL. A Prospect MUST be connected to the Leafs, AHL contracts or PTO's don't count.

3. I will start the poll with 10 of the most consensus guys I've seen on the Marlies/Draft boards. I will list the players on the docket (and their most recent season stats) as well as guys that have the ability to be added. Vote on who to be added next or I'll choose myself.

4. When there is a tie, we will do a tie-breaker. The loser of the tie-breaker does not immediately go into the place below (eg: If we tie on prospect #13, the winner is 13 and the loser goes back onto the docket).

5. We will be going to 30 like we did last year.

Hirvonen and then it gets interesting again. Still not sure who I'm voting for once Hirvonen gets chosen.

Add Villeneuve

Abruzzese for me, then Steeves, Hirvonen and kokkonen in that order.

Add Villeneuve, Hildeby after that

I went tverberg. Oddly enough, i’ve never seen hirvonen play besides wjc, but he’s a strong pick. I probably should have went hirvonen, but my fingers dove straight for the toyberg.

I have tverbeg over abbruzzese cuz he’s accomplished more at the same age. Near ppg in ncaa > ushl domination on a good team. Abbruzese is 24 and 33 points in 28 games as a 22 year old is meh. Watching abbruzese in ncaa, he gets manhandled and does not have the skating to evade this contact or create space. Toyberg is the moving force. He lays people out and i’ve seen him get physically dominate only to score later on in the game.

Tough choice between 3-4 guys, almost a tie for me….
Gonna go with RoniH over Steeves n Tverberg by a hair.
Add Villeneuve.

Looks like not much faith in Abruzzese
I honestly think his stretch with the Leafs at seasons end has soured some people. Little unfair to judge him off that, but he wasn't an 18 year old kid coming in either. I think he's going to have a great season in the AHL. He's still high on my list, I just like Hirvonen more.

This was Roni vs Steeves for me. I think Steeves has a better shot at being impactful at the NHL level while Roni has a higher ceiling, so I went with what I viewed as a safer pick. Would go Steeves > Roni > Tverberg > Abruzzese > Kral > Voit. Would add Villeneuve.

It's pretty hard to put Holmberg Steeves Abruzzese ahead of young guys like Hirvonen when those young guys are better than the older guys were at their respective ages and the older guys aren't even locks to be NHLers this year at age 23.

I voted Hirvonen.

I'm really surprised at the lack of attention Curtis Douglas is getting. He only has a bottom-6 upside, I'm thinking Adam Lowry. But, he is 6'9 and has good defensive skills. He also scored above .5PPG playing from the fourth line as a rookie banking in pucks off Rich Clune's shin pads.

I think he is one of the most likely prospects to make the NHL from this list. Guys like Abramov, Abruzzese, Kral, Villeneuve etc. probably never make it. Douglas seems like a guarantee.

Add Douglas.

I voted Steeves after a very solid year with the Marlies. I feel like Hirvonen is pretty overrated around here, he's small, not a great skater, and his stats are really not very good for the Finnish league.

His stats are good for his age and the role he plays on the team. He had a great season and his analytics showed a huge jump.

It was clear that he shouldn't have been in the NHL at this point in his career. I didn't think all that much of him before he was signed watching him in NCAA clips despite the nice production. Honest to goodness I think more of him now from his audition with the Leafs than I did before he was signed. He can take a pass in motion and make a pass in motion. His footspeed is NHL level and he has some skating agility. I can see him eventually being an NHL player but I'm not seeing a lot of top 6 potential.

edit: add Villeneuve
