I'd like to see Davidson with back to back good seasons, I'm skeptical of all the overages.

Simoneau was an overager as well. ;)

His shortened season was pretty decent with 19 in 23, which was good for 3rd on the team.

What scares me about Simoneau is that unless he can be a top 6 player, the pro potential is limited. Maybe a 3rd line C on an exploitation line, but I don't know how much he can do there unless sheltered. He can forecheck and dangle against junior players, but how will that work against experienced grown adults?

If he does well in the AHL, I will probably change my tune pretty quickly.

As for Davidson, I think he would have an easier time settling as a bottom 6 player that can pot in the odd goal. His first two years he was used as a defense first forward which obviously impacted his points total. The last two years, the coach gave him more opportunities on offence and he exploded (somewhat at the expense of his defensive stats). If the offence dries up at the pro level, he has the size to go back to being a defensive forward.

This is why I think Davidson has more pro upside than Simoneau. If Simoneau was taller, it would obviously not be a debate, but we wouldn't have been able to draft him as an overager either.

There are no Russian guys currently in the voting.

I assume you mean Sobolev and Gordin.

Sobolev

Gordin

The answer is plenty.

As for Condotta, there are several prospects who are still higher hope than him right now.

I know Simoneau was an overager as well, but he had more of a track record of production when we drafted him and then another good season after. I'd like to see Davidson follow up his 'break-out' overage season with something that tells me it isn't a blip.
