I went with Chibrikov although this is where I like lots of options.
I agree on the lots of options part. My apologies in advance: I know this isn’t the positivity thread, but it feels like for the first time in a long time, we are looking at a fuller cupboard. I trust Bowness and team is the right choice to begin to incorporate the right choices into the lineup.

Not to hate on our own guy, but I thought Samberg projected better as an NHLer last year. This past year only seemed to point further in that direction.

I hope I'm wrong, but I'd probably put Rutger, Chaz, Chibrikov and Lambert all ahead of Ville at this point

I mean, Heinola is 2 years younger, and outplayed Samberg in the AHL this year and last. Ville's game is built around things young Jets players were told not to do under Maurice. Ville played well with some players and bad with others, just like Samberg.

Ville is the age now Morrissey was when he had his first full Jets season. Prospects like Shane Wright and Brad Lambert get extra criticism because they've been in the public eye for longer than most prospects their age. Similarly, Ville has been playing Jets game since he was 18 while Samberg didn't get his first game until 22/23.

Nothing wrong with thinking Samberg is the better prospect, he has size and great skating and really good defensive awareness.

I had to go Lucius here. As a finisher I think that automatically makes him a top 6 project, his advantage over the comparable Russians is that he is already in the organization. And I think Chisholm is still uncertain to unlikely as a top 4 d-man on the depth chart, when comparing apples and oranges.

As for an addition I'll go Salminen, though I think it is quite possible that no goalie cracks the top 15 in this poll.

I went Rashevsky just to be contrarian but it all depends on how you roll your decision around in your head. To me there's a cluster here and was already almost at the last pick.

I think you can juggle any of Lambert-Lucius-Chisolm-Rashevsky-Chibrikov in almost any order based on different rationales. Lambert for ceiling, Lucius for his scoring touch, Chisolm for readiness...

My greatest hope is we're past the VETZ era of Maurice and we get to see some kids step up or at the very least they get a legitimate chance to iron out some wrinkles. Perfetti, Heinola, Samberg should all be given shots as regulars. Chisolm and Gus should be tried in a couple of roles. Maybe Chibrikov and Rashevsky too, though I think one or both still have an overseas contract for this year.

Somewhere within the next 10 places, I’m guessing that we should insert Barron. I just don’t really know where. Any ideas? Does this discussion belong in here or somewhere else?

Yea I mentioned how I find this refreshing and therapeutic vs the rehashing of our parent clubs problems.

This is the best I have felt about our prospect pool since Connor joined the Jets full time.

I hope Barron cracks the top 10. His ceiling isn't that high, as a checking line player, but I think he'll be an everyday NHL player. I'd have him ahead of Gustafsson, just based on last year's playoff with the Moose, and his cup of coffee with the Jets.

These boards tend to favour offensive numbers vs. everyday performance, which is why a guy like Reichel was rated so low last year. Jets are going to need guys that can finish their checks and contribute to special teams, and Barron checks those boxes.
