right after he had a pretty good game too. He was making some nice plays in that 3rd period..meanwhile guys like newhook/boldy/etc are all getting the opportunity sigh

Awesome JVR news.

Recommit to the tank. Can’t escape destiny.
agree, just wish it didnt happen to jvr cus we need him to bring that deadline price up. He still has a lot of time to do that but it would've been nice to see him score more while the flyers are "hot"

Torts said JVR had played really well and his injury will hurt the team a lot.

Says Cates may be moving back to LW with Laughton at center. Thinks Cates is lacking confidence.

Well, Holmgren would be first in line, with that deal with AMac, which was much worse as a % of the cap!

I'm still curious about that move, a week before Fletcher offers a million less and a year less, and is talking about trading Risto at the deadline - was this his idea or did the FO make Risto a priority because he's a "Flyer player?" Was Scott still fixated on competing in 2022-23 and decided Risto was necessary?
Trying to polish the entire Risto situation turd by playing what'about'ism doesn't make the Risto turd any better.

i think he and cates should switch or put cates on his wing with laughton as the 3c. He needs to play with better offensive players, not the likes of freaking deslaurier who he is lined up with rn. Some opportunity to excel offensively with a player like that. You want those 40 points, give him better linemates

He doesn't want him to get better points, he wants to scapegoat Frost for the season while pretending he's receiving proper usage when he isn't.

I'm sure appeals to authority to justify it will come shortly.

Frost 14:59
Newhook 13:17
and yet newhook is on the 2nd line, playing with nichuskin and eventually landeskog when he gets better.

but I thought the goal was to get frost his 40 points! I'm sure deslaurier, macewan, etc will help give frost goals/bury any chance he will give them lol

Still waiting on that Deslauriers scratch! Seeing Frost play with absolute no skill plugs, like MacEwen and Deslauriers, in his "make or break year" is just depressing. It's a no-win. It doesn't benefit him; it doesn't benefit a (rebuilding) team; it only benefits Chuck Fletcher's self-justifying ego.

Wow, who could've predicted that?! They took a blossoming LW and made him a 2C because he plays the "right way" and turned his game into mush in the process.

Have you looked at the AVs roster? What alternative do they have with Kadri gone? Compher?

Frost is averaging 15 minutes of ice time per game, is on the 2nd PP, and had the team's leading goal scorer from last season (JVR) on his wing all season until JVR got hurt last game.

As deadhead pointed out, he's averaging almost 2-minutes more TOI per game than Newhook. So spare me.

I'm told this is good development.

Frost works best with space. No one will give him more space than Nic.

The Risto trade was horrendous, but somehow extending him, and the missed opportunity of not trading him at the deadline (and possibly bringing him back after July 1st!) was worse.

It will be hard to justify another year of Fletcher. He shouldn't even be holding the title now, but I wonder if expectations for this season were so low and with all of the injuries (we know this team loves a good excuse), I wonder if the team finishing ~10-12 would be seen as progress and justify another year of the Fletcher error, I mean era.

Remember when we taught you that TOI alone is useless without context? Nearly a quarter of that TOI has been spent with MacEwen. More time than he's spent with Allison or TK or Laughton or Farabee. Almost as much as he has spent with Laczynski.

Maybe spare us your scapegoating.

Torts said he's going to play laughton at center as he wants to build Cates confidence at his natural position. Lack of depth says one of them has to play c while I feel they're both better at wing.

Farabee Laughton Cates d-lo shows a huge dropoff at the position. Might be our weakest behind center with only ratcliffe in Lehigh
Tk Tippett Allison macewen with Foerster needing playing time.

Check out MacEwen and Frosts icetime to see how these players are viewed by the team and quality of the "chances" they're being given.

Also, this was boosted after last game where JVR fell due to being injured and Frost played more than usual because Hayes and TK got benched. Before that, he was 9th in 5v5 icetime with 11:18 per game.
