DeAngelo is better than I thought he was.

I don't know if that is saying much, but I like his puck handling ability and edge work a lot. Still leaves a lot to desire defending though.
i think most are ok with tda and what he brings, just not the cost. Literally giving a similar player, if not better as many have provided the stats, while losing on picks is just plain stupid.

i think his numbers would definitely look a lot better, and in turn the defense/team would be, if he was in a 2nd pair role. It will never happen here and will only happen on another team--but I just don't think we will trade him at all with this management and what they want.

the issue is you can't swap him and sanheim cus prov can't handle risto at all.

We saw in the Czech republic what happens when skilled teams look like with a lack of energy and effort. There's no one on this team who shouldn't be benched or can afford bad habits

Toronto fans and media saying they don't have enough grit... they need more toughness.

I wonder if they'd have any interest in a slightly used Deslauriers?

Comes complete with a 4-year contract and an NTC. Master of staged fights. Equipment is dry at end of games so cut down on laundry.

Act now receive a free Finnish defenseman. Some assembly required.

I don't think there is a defenseman playing that can handle a hand grenade like Risto.

The play JVR got hurt on didn't look too bad. the puck must have caught him in a spot with no padding.

I think this is looking at different things, Tippett at RW (has played LW), Laczynski at LW (when has he ever played there?).
Note MacEwen demoted to 4th line with Tippett back.

Couts, Atkinson, JVR out, that's basically your first line.

The alternative would be to recall Lycksell, but I think they want to give him some time to get comfortable with NA hockey, but if the JVR injury is long-term, he might get the call since he would then play regular minutes.

Risto was such an incredibly bad extension. He had an entire career of poor defensive results, and he showed last season that he had become injury prone, so then Fletcher goes out and gives him 5 years at $5.1m when he's about to turn 28 years old. If only the fans could sue a GM for malpractice.

Well, Holmgren would be first in line, with that deal with AMac, which was much worse as a % of the cap!

I'm still curious about that move, a week before Fletcher offers a million less and a year less, and is talking about trading Risto at the deadline - was this his idea or did the FO make Risto a priority because he's a "Flyer player?" Was Scott still fixated on competing in 2022-23 and decided Risto was necessary?
