Rangers crash out after a complete no-show performance in the Game 7. High-danger chances 22-5 to Devils and somehow the Rangers managed to put up 4.92 xGA which is impressive.

Nice to see that their worst performers also include Panarin (0+2), Trouba (0+0), Trocheck (1+0) who are all signed through eternity. Alexis Lafreniere with a 0+0 performance in the series. Yikes.

Their pick situation is a really poor one. Not just for this season but for 2024 and 2025 too.

Interesting summer coming up for sure. I wonder if Drury is going to finally get canned for giving away Buchnevich or if the blame is directed towards Gallant from this one.

Actually kind of wild to me that most teams that seemed to buy at the deadline have all been bounced, or didn't make it.

Tkachuk and Hughes have become the two best players in the Eastern Conference. The both play very different games, but look dominant doing it.

At least there was 2018.

Watching the Bruins go down after their historic season and mortgaging their future, watching the Rangers waste another generational talent at goalie with a bunch of overpaid FAs and high draft pick busts, watching the Avs crash and burn after dominating last season and watching all of their depth leave due to cap considerations… so very thankful for 2018.

Winning the Cup is really hard and the playoffs are a different beast. It’s almost unfair how regular season success means pretty much nothing when it comes to postseason success.

One thing that is cool is the Hurricanes are the most recent Cup winner of the remaining teams and they won it last in 2006. The Devils last won it in 2003. Dallas in ‘99, Edmonton in 1990, Toronto in 1967. The other three teams left — Seattle, Vegas, Florida — have never won. Some fanbase is going to get to see their team win for the first time in at least a generation if not longer, and maybe for the first time ever.

Oilers, Leafs and Devils arguably spent the most of any deadline teams.

Orlov and Bertuzzi were 2 of the top 3 scorers for Boston so as far as on ice production hard to say those weren't home run acquisitions either. But the rest of their org went out of their way to lose, playing Bergeron in Montreal, then playing horribly injured Ullmark DESPITE having a very successful tandem all year in the regular season, numerous opportunities to close it out, and Tampa itself winning 3 straight with shaky goaltending so its not like they Halaked their way to round 2. All around complete snatching of defeat from the jaws of victory. Monty looked like the best coach in the league all regular season but went full Reirden in the playoffs. Don't think a Sutter or Tortorella for all their faults would have crapped the bed like that, even Maurice made a number of clutch calls after having a widely panned regular season

(I don't lurk here - this is mere coincidence)

Does anyone here feel a bit confused at the current state of the playoffs? I think we share a mutual disdain for NYR (BOS?)....but like, I looked back the other day and remembered the 2016 Pens went through Lundqvist, Holtby on his record setting year(s), Vasilevsky, then Jones who was also top notch.

These playoffs seem wide open - and that's not hindsight.

Back in our day - it felt like the finals were between our two teams - rightfully so - but also that teams had to have a top C/line, top D, and top goaltending. Wtf do you need in 2023? Florida has 2 players, New Jersey is just fast and laid back, Seattle is a shephards pie...idk.
