Who do you think teams are more afraid of to play against? Guys like Girard who might spin-a-rama you to death or guys like Manson who will rag doll you in the corner and punch you in the mouth if you look at our star players wrong?

Some guys never played hockey and it shows.

What does this even mean?
That if you think he hasn’t regressed you don’t know the first thing about how good he was.

I'm not here to argue for or against the Manson deal, but I don't give two f***s about how he played in Anaheim. He played pretty damn well for us, and I don't expect that to change at least for next season.
That’s what’s important, but it is an absolute fact he’s regressed and on the wrong side of the aging curve. He could slide quickly at any point, I mean he already has to a degree

No one talks about it but why did it take so long for Kadri to sign the 7X7 contract that he was rumored to sign months ago? It's not like term and AAV are a surprise or anything.

Part of me do wonder if he got tired of waiting after Lou and decided to sign in Calgary.

More like it finally reached a point where Calgary was willing to part with a 1st to move the salary needed

Calgary finally moved the money to sign him.

Gonna miss Naz but happy he got paid (although still lower than expected).

My new phrase when anyone around here starts complaining about not re-signing Naz, MacK wanting a ton, Toews going to price us out or anything else similar is just going to be:

Heavy lies the Crown.

Teams need to stop tweeting shit like this. Have you not hired a professional PR person to do this? Then have them write words. I'm sure 15-year-olds are still more or less able to read.
I don't have a problem with it TBH. When used properly it creates hype and a buzz a few minutes before a big announcement.

Now in this case, using it in the middle of the Kadri signing and Monahan trade just to announce draft stuff was very bad timing.

No way I would have given Kadri that deal. He had a career year last season but let's not forget he was pretty brutal the year before even before he got suspended.

There's a reason why the refs weren't giving him the benefit of the doubt anymore.

Would rather Naz go East. Even with the loss of basically their first line, Calgary is looking pretty strong again.

It's crazy to think how much depth this team has lost over the course of two years. Imagine if we hadn't won the cup. People would definitely be screaming our window is closed.
People screamed we had lost our best chance for a cup last offseason when we lost Gru, Saad and Donskoi, only for us to end up way deeper and way stronger by the trade deadline.

He certainly didn't play well for us in the regular season

Ya I think he'll have some tough regular seasons here. Guys like him usually do as they age. They are way more suited for playoff hockey tho and you tend to need guys like him especially with the rest of our defensive core. They also tend to come at a hefty price. Which is why I think the deal will be fine. Won't be a home run or anything and you'll have some frustrating moments in the regular season but when it comes down it you'll be happy you signed the deal.

There's that, and then I am a known curmudgeon when it comes to informality or "fun" of any kind on team Twitters.

Man. I'm super impressed with what the Flames have done considering they lost their top 2 players in Tkachuk and Gaudreau.

Huberdeau- Lindholm- Toffoli
Pelletier- Kadri- Dube
Coleman- Backlund- Mangiapane
Lucic- Rooney- Lewis

Huberdeau will elevate everyone on that top line. Kadri and Dube are a very good pairing on the 2nd line and if rookie Pelletier proves he can play (27 goals, 62 points in the AHL) that's a very good 2nd line. Then the 3rd line of Coleman, Backlund and Mangiapane should be back together and they were arguably the best two way line in hockey last year and can score a pile of goals. Lewis and Lucic on the 4th line between Rooney gives them grit and toughness.

Then the D is arguably as deep as ours.

Hanifin- Anderson
Weegar - Tanev
Zadorov - Kylington

They allowed the 2nd least goals with Markstrom in net and Sutters system.

They will be a tough out this year.

That’s a great contract for Naz. Happy for him. Wish him nothing but the best.

Forever an Av!
